Job Description

The Information Assurance Security Officer applies IA policies, principles, and techniques to ensure the integrity and security of information systems processing sensitive or classified data. This role maintains operational security, performs threat modeling, and creates security documentation. The Total ITRegs project supports the modernization and maintenance of critical federal technology systems, improving performance, security, and data-driven decision-making for government services and public engagement.
Must Have:
  • Apply a full range of Information Assurance (IA) policies, principles, and techniques.
  • Maintain the operational security posture.
  • Perform threat modeling.
  • Create and maintain security documentation.
  • Work with system admins, network engineers, and stakeholders on security integration.
  • Implement IA policies to secure information systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and organizational standards.
  • Monitor incidents.
  • Perform risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits.
  • Provide security awareness training.
  • Participate in incident response activities.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Job Requirements

The Information Assurance Security Officer applies a full range of Information Assurance (IA) policies, principles, and techniques to ensure the integrity and security of information systems processing sensitive or classified data. They maintain the operational security posture, perform threat modeling, and create and maintain security documentation.

The Impact You Will Create:

The Total ITRegs project supports the modernization and maintenance of critical federal technology systems that serve both agencies and the public. The work spans system development, modernization, and 24/7 operations — including rebuilding legacy platforms on modern cloud architectures, improving performance and security, enabling data-driven decision making, and ensuring reliable, continuous operations. The teams collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly solutions that strengthen government services and enhance public engagement.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Work with system admins, network engineers, and stakeholders on security integration.
  • Implement IA policies to secure information systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and organizational standards.
  • Maintain operational security posture and monitor incidents.
  • Perform threat modeling and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Create and update security documentation and risk assessments.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits.
  • Provide security awareness training.
  • Participate in incident response activities.

Work Experience

Skills and Qualifications We Require at Fearless:

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong knowledge of IA principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with threat modeling and risk management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Experience with systems processing classified data including PII/PHI.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Security+.
  • Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Minimum Salary: $45,777

Salary Midpoint: $59,510

Maximum Salary: $73,243
