Job Summary

For our Trade Facilitation Services department, we are looking for an Inspector. You will be responsible for performing various inspections of goods for export to Africa and the Middle East, ensuring they meet local standards and regulations. This role involves extensive travel to customer sites with a company car, making photos and notes, sealing containers, and processing data. You will also perform remote inspections using QiiQ software. This is a varied role with opportunities for learning and independent work.

Must Have

  • Perform diverse inspections after extensive on-the-job training.

  • Contribute to quality assurance of goods by performing inspections and processing data.
  • Possess a completed MBO-4 diploma.
  • Ability to work independently with a high sense of responsibility.
  • Good knowledge of Dutch and English language.

Good to Have

  • Relevant work experience as an inspector (in accordance with ISO 17020) is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated person who likes to be proactive.
  • Enjoy performing remote inspections from home for variety.

The Trade Facilitation Services business unit within SGS helps government agencies of importing countries ensure that imported goods comply with local standards and regulations, correctly determine import duties and levies, and facilitate trade.

For our Trade Facilitation Services department, we are looking for an Inspector.

What do we do?

Every day, we create certificates for many clients for their export shipments to Africa and the Middle East. These certificates demonstrate that the goods to be shipped comply with local norms and standards and are necessary to import the goods on site. Different procedures and requirements apply to each client and each country of destination. Inspections of these goods are part of this to determine that the goods correspond to what the client has specified. For these inspections, we are looking for an inspector!

Tasks:

  • After extensive on-the-job training, you will perform various inspections.
  • You travel with your own company car to the customer and perform the inspection on site.
  • You speak to the customer, take photos and notes of the products, seal containers where necessary, and process data directly in our (online) reporting tool.
  • We offer customers the option to be inspected remotely with our QiiQ remote software. You enjoy doing these inspections from home for variety.
  • You contribute to the quality assurance of goods by performing the inspections, and you will also process this in the correct systems or as a report.

In short, a position with a lot of variety and (learning) opportunities where independent work, good communication skills, and flexibility are central.

Job Requirements

For this role as an inspector, you will be on the road a lot independently with your own company car and perform inspections of goods that are being exported. So, if you have experience driving a lot and traveling (for example, as a courier) and possess the competencies below? Then we are definitely looking for you!

Profile:

  • You have a completed MBO-4 diploma;
  • Relevant work experience as an inspector (in accordance with ISO 17020) is a plus but certainly not a requirement;
  • You can work well independently and have a high sense of responsibility.
  • You are an enthusiastic and motivated person and like to roll up your sleeves.
  • You have a good knowledge of the Dutch and English language.
  • Working area is Flevoland/East-Netherlands/Brabant/Limburg and regularly outside of these areas. Living centrally in that region is preferred.
