Duties include creating and sharing content on various platforms to educate and inform North America employees, ensuring clear, concise, and audience-specific communications. The role involves drafting communications in both English and French, distributing communications through appropriate channels, supporting regional events and initiatives, and managing Broadcast Studio operations, requiring strong written skills, organizational abilities, and proficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of internal communications experience.
  • Experience with internal communication tools.

Internal Communications Officer

Arlington VA, Hybrid (3 days minimum at Arlington office location)

Position Summary

Thales is currently looking for an Internal Communications Officer who is responsible for writing, proofreading, and distributing Internal Communications content, in addition to conceiving new communication methods and creative approaches. Duties include creating and sharing content on a variety of platforms to educate and inform North America employees, ensuring clear, concise and audience-specific communications.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Individual must possess strong written skills, be highly organized, and be efficient and effective in a fast-paced multi-platform environment on a variety of projects. The individual must also be skilled in working with colleagues from different countries and cultures.

  • Conceiving and drafting of communications in both English and French: emails, articles, newsletters, etc.

  • Distribution of communications using appropriate channels

  • Updates and support for intranet and other internal digital platforms

  • Support for regional events and initiatives: town halls, diversity and inclusion/CSR/STEM initiatives

  • Person of reference for the deployment of new internal tools and digital platforms/digital tools champion

  • Interaction with Group internal communications colleagues to ensure coordination and alignment

  • Support for regional events as required

  • Responsibility for the Broadcast Studio operations (filming, producing, editing and running the studio)

Knowledge of internal communication platforms; attention to detail; the ability to work autonomously; outstanding collaborative skills; and a proven sense of initiative and ownership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or comparable field or in lieu of a degree, 6 years relevant exempt experience in the field as equivalency

  • At least 5 years of writing, proofreading, and distributing internal communications within a large multinational company

  • Demonstrated experience interacting with various stakeholders to provide communications guidance, while leveraging resources across multi-functional and diverse teams on projects and programs

  • Prior experience with internal communications tools (such as Office 365, Jive, Oracle, Jabber, CMS Lite) and experience distributing enterprise-wide communications

  • Prior experience working with video and photo editing capacity; ease in quickly learning and coaching others with new digital tools

  • Comfortable in working in an evolving environment, and capacity to adapt quickly to changing priorities

  • Proven project management skills, including the definition of internal communication plans, describing deliverables, target audiences and timelines

  • Ability to coordinate work with external agencies or suppliers as required

15% domestic travel is required to support regional events and filming
