Work Cell Leader

The Role

We have a new exciting opportunities at Thales Optronics & Missile Electronics (OME) for Work Cell Leader to lead our manufacturing cell based in Glasgow. Your role will be to lead the day to day operations of the manufacturing processes within the work cell and work closely with other departments. The role of Activity Manager is to ensure all team members understand performance expectations and meet the departments set KPI’s. The post holder will exercise overall responsibility for good housekeeping, high standards of cleanliness and compliance to all Thales procedures within their area. The Activity Manager will report to the APRU Manager, and will work with the Team Leader to develop and implement TIOM minimum standards to deliver operational excellence.

Duties and Key responsibilities:

Health & Safety

  • Responsible for the Health & Safety of all direct reports and drive engagement with Thales Health & Safety goals.
  • Accountable for all HSE activities within the unit - this will include the establishing and maintaining all area risk assessments, control of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and the training and heath surveillance of all staff. A safe and secure operating environment is the primary importance.
  • Encourage the identification and reporting of hazards by all personnel.

Quality

  • Responsible for Quality Control and to ensure all processes are carried out in accordance with company procedures (Chorus).
  • Participate in cross functional teams to drive improvement.

Production

  • Responsible for the planning and implementation of work schedules to meet Master Production Schedule, customer requirements and departmental KPI’s.
  • Track daily performance of department and direct reports.
  • Ensure that all members of the manufacturing team are kept informed of their productivity performance against set performance targets.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities as part of a cross functional team.
  • Drive a culture of CI with the manufacturing cell incorporating Lean principles.
  • Ensure APRU Manager is advised accordingly of all issues affecting the supply of components to customers and where appropriate a corrective plan of action.

Other duties

  • Lead by example, coach, motivate and challenge the team and give feedback on performance.
  • Ensure all direct reports possess the necessary skills to meet the manufacturing targets and drive cross training to increase flexibility.
  • Arrange the necessary recruitment and training of personnel to achieve Master Production Schedule.
  • Manage people issues such as Training, Motivation, Shift Planning, Holiday Planning, Absence etc.
  • Adhere to and champion the Thales EDI policy.
  • Ad hoc duties as required to achieve business objectives.
