Job Description

As a member of the logistics team, the International Trade Coordinator / International Trade Compliance will ensure correct observance of customs and foreign trade compliance in all company activities. This role involves maintaining foreign trade programs and certifications, identifying savings strategies, and collaborating with operational and management areas to propose strategies that meet business objectives while ensuring compliance. The position reports directly to the Customs Region Leader.
Good To Have:
  • Knowledge of customs valuation and transfer pricing.
Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, with at least 5-6 years of experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of customs and foreign trade legislation.
  • Experience with IMMEX Program, Annex 24 administration, validation, and audits.
  • VAT Certification (all modalities), Annex 30.
  • AEO Certification, extensive knowledge of required standards, notices, supply chain security audits.
  • Knowledge of free trade agreements, rules of origin, and experience in product qualification for USMCA.
  • Technical knowledge in product classification.
  • Experience in analysis and obtaining programs and permits (Prosec, Rule Eight, Duty Drawback, NOMs, Automatic Notices, Semarnat Certificates).
  • Management of customs agents and foreign trade service providers, evaluation, and activity monitoring.
  • Knowledge of customs declaration and foreign trade audits.
  • Experience in special operations (V1, V5, F4).
  • Presentation of business results (metrics), detection of process deviations, generation of corrective actions, follow-up, and closure.
  • Project/requirement management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle.

At Wabtec de México, Industrial Zone of San Luis Potosí, we are leaders in the production of pneumatic brake equipment, supplying a market of 45,000 railway cars per year; under a maquiladora company work scheme, our annual exports are equivalent to an estimated 3,250 million pesos only in the state of San Luis Potosí.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the logistics team, in the position of International Trade Coordinator / International Trade Compliance, your main responsibilities will be to ensure the correct observance of customs and foreign trade compliance in all company activities. Maintain foreign trade programs and certifications. Identify savings strategies. Work together with the operational and management areas of the company to analyze and propose strategies that meet the business's commercial objectives while ensuring customs and foreign trade compliance.

This position will report directly to the Customs Region Leader.

What do we want to know about you?

The career requirements for this position are:

  • Bachelor's degree level studies, preferably in International Trade, with at least 5 - 6 years of experience in its respective application.
  • Advanced knowledge of customs and foreign trade legislation and experience in:
  • IMMEX Program, obtaining, fulfilling requirements and obligations, as well as program extensions. Administration of Annex 24, validation, and audits.
  • VAT Certification, all modalities, obtaining, benefits, and obligations. Annex 30. AEO Certification, extensive knowledge of the standards required by the company profile, notices, supply chain security audits.
  • Knowledge of free trade agreements, rules of origin, and experience in product qualification for USMCA.
  • Technical knowledge (and desirable experience) in product classification.
  • Experience in the analysis and obtaining of programs and permits (Prosec, Rule Eight, Duty Drawback, NOMs, Automatic Notices, Semarnat Certificates, etc.)
  • Management of customs agents and foreign trade service providers, evaluation, and monitoring of their activities.
  • Knowledge in customs valuation and transfer pricing (desired).
  • Knowledge of customs declaration and foreign trade audits.
  • Experience in special operations (V1, V5, F4).
  • Presentation of results (metrics) to businesses, detection of process deviations and generation of corrective actions, follow-up, and closure.

What will your typical day be like?

  • Ensure prompt release of products at customs.
  • Identify savings opportunities through the application of tax exemption programs and request the document or registration to the program that allows its application.
  • Verify correct tariff classification for imports and exports. As well as compliance with non-tariff restrictions and regulations.
  • Administer and jointly establish processes for the good performance of service providers' activities to ensure customs and foreign trade compliance. (Annex 24 provider, foreign trade activities provider, customs agents)
  • Monitor changes in legislation, evaluate impacts, communicate them to the company, and jointly establish actions to mitigate their impact.
  • Supervise the integration of import and export documentation files.
  • Registration of suppliers as sub-maquilador with the Ministry of Economy.
  • Reconciliation of foreign trade information against what is registered in Oracle's receipt, shipment, and invoicing modules. To identify discrepancies and establish corrective actions, follow-up, and closure.
  • Ensure the preservation and observance of the requirements of the foreign trade certifications and programs held by the companies. Coordinating with different departments, generating evidence, executing audits, updating procedures, and implementing necessary actions.
  • Submit reports/notices/permits required by law in a timely manner to ensure continuity of operation.
  • Attend internal and external reviews/audits on foreign trade matters.
  • Communication of operational results (KPIs and AEO audit) with senior management.
  • Provide training on basic foreign trade concepts by area to ensure adherence to compliance (mainly Materials, Traffic and Logistics, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Taxes, Accounting).

What about the physical demands of the job?

The work is mainly performed in an office environment, but it is important to have continuous interaction with production areas to ensure understanding of operational requirements, for which basic safety equipment must be used.
