Job Description

This is an unpaid internship program for students in their final BA semester, offering hands-on experience in game development at Funcom's Oslo Studio. Interns will work directly with experts on Dune: Awakening, focusing on gameplay programming, learning, experimenting, and coding features. The program runs from early January to May 2026, providing mentorship and a pathway to a career in game development.
Must Have:
  • Knowledge of C++.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine.
  • 3D math foundations.
  • Understanding of real-time multiplayer with a client ↔ server setup.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • Currently enrolled in a relevant Bachelor’s Degree program with an expected graduation in 2026.
  • Ability to support own travel and accommodation.
  • Onsite presence in our central Oslo Studio.

About the internship program

The internship applications for our Oslo Studio are now open for students entering their final BA semester who want to step into the exciting world of game development in 2026.

You will get the chance to work directly with seasoned experts and mentors, gaining hands-on experience while having a real impact on our massive multiplayer survival game, Dune: Awakening.

Application deadline: September 21, 2025

Time and place

Time: Early January – May 2026 (exact timing to be determined by your university)

Place: Oslo, Norway

Who is this internship for?

We are accepting applications from students currently enrolled in a relevant Bachelor’s Degree program with an expected graduation in 2026. The internships are an unpaid opportunity to hone your skills and work with seasoned professionals during your final semester at school.

You would need to support your own travel and accommodation, and the internship would be onsite in our central Oslo Studio.

We are happy to offer mentorship, great colleagues, a free breakfast bar and lunch during your internship.

Our goal is to be part of setting you up for a strong career in game development, and you would be very welcome to apply for open positions in the company upon completion of the internship.

Your Mission in Funcom

Learn, experiment, and code features that make our worlds more fun to play in. As a Gameplay Programming Intern you will deepen your gameplay programming skills while contributing to one of our games.

How you can have an impact in your position

  • Become part of the development team, where you’ll receive guidance and have meaningful tasks to work on.
  • Collaborate with our teams, offer feedback to them and learn new tools & processes.
  • Share your ideas about what you would like to see in our game.
