The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.

Our commitments, your benefits

  • Our technological expertise
  • Our attention to employee work-life balance
  • An inclusive and benevolent environment
  • Recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index…)

Your daily life

On a cutting-edge Bordeaux Campus, between ocean and vineyards, we design and develop systems, equipment, and services to ensure the success of our clients' airborne missions.

The internship focuses on helicopter landing assistance in degraded visual conditions, a significant factor in accidents. You will join a THALES team working on this issue in collaboration with operational staff.

An innovative solution has been developed and now needs to be modified, improved, and robustified.

The system relies on a multi-sensor box with an NVIDIA environment and a pilot interface on a tablet (Web HMI).

In this context, you will be required to support the team in various areas depending on your skills and needs:

  • Design new 3D printed parts to adapt the system for flight tests (helicopter or drone).
  • Modify and develop software to interface new components (radar, camera) or create new algorithms.
  • Assemble and wire the different components of the system, using the prototyping area and the FabLab.

Your profile

  • You are preparing a Bac+5 (Master's degree), specializing in mechatronics, robotics, or embedded software, and are looking for a six-month end-of-studies internship.
  • You have received training in mechatronics or robotics and are comfortable with CAD for 3D printed parts.
  • You master basic digital electronics and sensors.
  • You use Linux and develop in C language.
  • Knowledge of ROS2, embedded systems, or an aeronautical background is a plus.
  • You are autonomous, curious, capable of seeking missing information from experts, and comfortable in an innovative and agile environment.

A word from the team

We design, develop, and deliver systems and equipment to ensure the success of our clients' airborne missions (transport, surveillance, combat).

You will join the Innovation Hub, responsible for developing and studying new products for our clients, and participate in innovative projects at the heart of aviation.

All our internships are conventioned and subject to gratification, the amount of which is determined according to your level of study.

Thales, a Handi-Engaged company, recognizes all talents. Diversity is our best asset. Apply and join us!
