Job Description

Our Barp site specializes in the development and maintenance of high-power signal systems. As part of GenF, you will develop a proof-of-concept demonstrator for an innovative system combining lasers, opto-mechanics, metrology, and advanced control. This 'tracker' technology estimates target trajectories, controls laser alignment, synchronizes firings, and adjusts injection trajectories in real time. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project in inertial confinement fusion technologies.
Must Have:
  • Design and build a scaled-down tracker demonstrator to validate essential concepts
  • Define the experimental plan for the demonstrator
  • Select, integrate, and assemble components including lasers, optics, metrology, and control systems
  • Develop the system and optimize its performance through an experimental campaign
  • Solid knowledge in optics
  • Solid knowledge in lasers
  • Solid knowledge in mechatronics
  • Solid knowledge in algorithmics
  • Solid knowledge in programming
  • Master's level (bac+5) internship in engineering
Perks:
  • Technological expertise
  • Attention to employee work-life balance
  • An inclusive and benevolent environment
  • Recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index…)
  • Regulated internships with remuneration based on study level

Your daily life

Our Barp site, located between Bordeaux and Arcachon, is specialized in the development, integration, and Operational Maintenance of systems and equipment generating or amplifying very high power signals.

Within GenF, you will participate in the creation of a proof-of-concept demonstrator for an innovative system combining lasers, opto-mechanics, metrology, and advanced control.

The « tracker » is the technology that estimates target trajectories in real time, controls the alignment of lasers on the firing point, synchronizes firings with each other and with the passage of targets, and can adjust the injection trajectory between two firings.

Your mission consists of designing and building a scaled-down tracker demonstrator to validate essential concepts:

  • Demonstrator design and definition of the experimental plan;
  • Selection, integration, and assembly of components (lasers, optics, metrology, and control systems);
  • System development and optimization of its performance through an experimental campaign.

This internship offers you the opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project in a dynamic and innovative environment, at the heart of inertial confinement fusion technologies.

Your profile:

Your priority is to obtain a Master's level (bac+5) internship in the field of engineering.

You have solid knowledge in:

  • Optics
  • Lasers
  • Mechatronics
  • Algorithmics
  • Programming

Do you enjoy working in a dynamic environment, focused on cutting-edge technologies, and are you motivated by the idea of actively contributing to ambitious projects with high societal impact?

Are your curiosity, rigor, and inventiveness recognized assets?

Then this position is for you!

All our internships are regulated and subject to remuneration, the amount of which is determined by your level of study.

Thales, a Handi-Engagée company, recognizes all talents. Diversity is our best asset. Apply and join us!
