Thales is a global high-tech leader specializing in three business sectors: Defense & Security, Aerospace & Space, and Cyber & Digital. It develops products and solutions that contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more inclusive world. The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key areas of innovation such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.
At the heart of Saint Quentin en Yvelines, the Elancourt site is one of Thales' most important technological centers of excellence. The diversity and technicality of the systems and equipment mobilize expertise in more than 80 professions in defense, high-tech security, and digital services solutions.
The Servomechanisms & Servo Control Service (SSA) brings together the skills and resources necessary for the development of functionalities related to servo control for all of Elancourt's product lines: servo-controlled mechanisms, line-of-sight stabilization and kinematics, line-of-sight attitude calculations, and georeferencing. As such, SSA intervenes throughout the product life cycle: from architecture and sizing, through development and integration, to expertise in production and operational maintenance.
The internship is part of the study and development work on the line-of-sight servo control of an airborne optronic system. This servo control must meet a need for high precision, while being constrained by an environment presenting strong frequency disturbances and the presence of delays in the loop (command and measurement chain).
The objective is the development (in simulation) of algorithms (simple and efficient) for compensating disturbing torques while considering the effect of delay.
A first development has been done on 3 types of compensators. During the internship, you will take over the work done to add layers of in-depth analysis.
More precisely, you will be led to work on the following missions:
Understand the dynamics and effects of disturbances and delay.
Analyze sensitivity functions and stability margins.
Closed-loop analysis, and robustness margins.
Closed-loop analysis, and robustness margins.
Are you looking for your end-of-study internship at bac+5 level in systems control, servo control?
Do you have solid theoretical knowledge in linear and non-linear automation (servo control)?
Do you therefore have a first experience (internship or project) in implementing PID control on a mechatronic system?
Do you master Matlab/Simulink?
Do you demonstrate a certain aptitude for analytical development, simulation, and analysis?
Are you recognized for your rigor, your synthesis capacity, your proactivity, and your perseverance?
Then this internship is for you!
This internship offers the intern an opportunity to deepen their knowledge in automation and servo control, but also to be a source of innovative proposals. The results will potentially be exploited during the development of Thales products. You will join a young, welcoming, and cheerful team, who will support you in your success!
All our internships are conventional and subject to a gratification whose amount is determined according to your level of study.
Thales, a Handi-Engaged company, recognizes all talents. Diversity is our best asset. Apply and join us!
