Thales is a global leader in high technologies specializing in three sectors: Defense & Security, Aeronautics & Space, and Cyber & Digital. It develops products and solutions that contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more inclusive world. The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.
The Toulouse site is responsible for satellite system engineering, the design and production of payloads, as well as the development and qualification of ground segments. It integrates a research center and an industrial accelerator for start-ups and ventures.
The internship aims to test antenna processing algorithms dedicated to goniometry based on 4th order moments, for Navigation France Domain missions at Thales Alenia Space. You will compare these techniques to classical methods (2nd order moments, MUSIC, ESPRIT) to evaluate their relevance for detecting and localizing interfering signals embedded on low-orbit satellites. You will perform analyses on antenna networks, signals (CDMA, CW, pulsed, chirp…), receiver and antenna defects, detection algorithms, and multidimensional optimization methods. You will develop a Monte-Carlo test simulator integrating all studied parameters, and compare algorithm performances. You will validate the results using the Cramer Rao bound, then test implementations on real signals collected by the company. Finally, you will finalize and synthesize your results in a report.
Is your priority to complete a 6-month internship?
Do you have the ambition to perfect your knowledge in GNSS signal?
