Job Description

This internship focuses on constructing and statistically analyzing reference populations within the 'Precision Biology for Lifesciences & Healthcare' organization at Dassault Systèmes. The NeuroTwin team develops technologies for diagnostic, prognostic, and monitoring applications in clinical neurology, particularly for neurodegenerative diseases and epilepsy. The intern will conduct a bibliographic study on methods for building reference populations, identify and analyze relevant databases, develop statistical comparison solutions, and propose visualizations of biomarkers in context with these reference populations.
Good To Have:
  • Experience in defining reference populations.
  • Experience in comparing populations to an individual.
Must Have:
  • Conduct a bibliographic study on methods for building reference populations.
  • Search and study databases for constructing these populations and develop statistical comparison solutions.
  • Propose visualizations of biomarkers contextualized with reference populations.
  • Excellent level in Python.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods for population comparison.
Perks:
  • Integration into a scientific company at the heart of technological innovation.
  • Multicultural environment.
  • Friendly work environment focused on well-being and health.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Dynamic career development policy: training plan, internal mobility, etc.

Subject: Construction and statistical analysis on reference populations

As part of a consortium, Dassault Systèmes' "Precision Biology for Lifesciences & Healthcare" organization develops software prototypes to support the transformation of medical practices based on the use of virtual twins.

Within this organization, the NeuroTwin team is specifically responsible for developing technologies, algorithms, user experience, and data models for diagnostic, prognostic, and monitoring applications in clinical neurology. The pathologies addressed include neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, vascular dementias) and epilepsy.

In the context of dementia diagnosis and monitoring, various biomarkers extracted from multiple imaging modalities are often of interest. To facilitate analysis and increase practitioner confidence in using the proposed biomarkers, these are presented consistently with those extracted from reference populations (e.g., healthy populations and populations affected by dementias).

To achieve this, several complementary approaches are necessary, such as: homogenization of imaging parameters or taking into account characteristics such as age, sex, education level, etc.

Your missions

During this internship, your missions will be as follows:

  • Conduct a bibliographic study of methods for constructing reference populations, taking into account acquisition typologies, the patient's clinical status, and their demographic information.
  • Search for and study databases allowing the construction of these populations, and you will develop statistical comparison solutions.
  • Propose visualizations of biomarkers contextualized with reference populations.

Your qualifications

Currently pursuing a Master 2 / Bac+5 (equivalent to a 5-year higher education degree) in an Engineering School or University, you specialize in one of the following fields: Statistics, Medical Imaging, Mathematical Modeling, Image Processing, Computer Science, Biomedical.

You are interested in the fields of neurology, software development, and statistics.

Desired technical skills:

  • Excellent level in Python
  • Knowledge of statistical methods for population comparison

Your application will have an additional asset if:

  • You have already worked on the definition of reference populations.
  • You have already worked on the comparison of populations to an individual.

Desired professional qualities:

  • Creativity and collaborative spirit in exchanging ideas with other department members.
  • Autonomy and proactiveness in implementing the prototype.
  • Rigor in your technical conduct of the internship.
  • Pedagogy in presenting and explaining the internship results.

Joining us also means

Joining a scientific company at the heart of technological innovation, driven by strong growth for over 40 years.

Main advantages and benefits:

  • Multicultural environment
  • Friendly work environment focused on well-being and health
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Dynamic career development policy: training plan, internal mobility, etc.
