The intern will join a team of about forty people and will be responsible for thermal modeling of product sub-assemblies using NASTRAN or ANSYS, condensing and assembling these models into a complete product model, performing thermal simulations, recalibrating models against measurements or other calculations, and writing synthesis notes. The role requires a Bac+5 student in mechanical engineering with knowledge in general physics, thermal and fluidics, and thermal calculations, eager to develop expertise in simulation and physical phenomena analysis and discover product architectures combining mechanics and thermal aspects.
Good To Have:
  • Knowledge of finite element calculation software.
Must Have:
  • Model thermal sub-assemblies on NASTRAN or ANSYS.
  • Condense and assemble thermal models into complete product model.
  • Perform thermal simulations.
  • Recalibrate models by comparing results with measurements.
  • Write synthesis notes.
  • Bac+5 degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge in general physics.
  • Knowledge in thermal and fluidics.
  • Knowledge in thermal calculations.
Perks:
  • Our technological expertise
  • Our attention to employee balance

Your daily life

At the heart of Saint Quentin en Yvelines, the Elancourt site is one of Thales' most important technological excellence centers. The diversity and technicality of the systems and equipment mobilize expertise in more than 80 professions in defense, high-tech security, and digital services solutions.

Within the Technical Competence Center of Thales, you will join a team of about forty people, in the Aero Design Office as an intern engineer.

The Aero Design Office designs the physical architectures of products and performs thermal and mechanical calculations to guarantee their performance and reliability. It also manages technical data, analyzes product evolutions, writes mechanical specifications, and participates in validation phases.

This end-of-study internship will start from February 2026 at the Elancourt site.

You will have the following main missions:

  • Thermally model product sub-assemblies on NASTRAN or ANSYS
  • Condense the obtained thermal models and assemble them into the complete model
  • Perform thermal simulations
  • Recalibrate the models by comparing the results obtained with measurements or other calculations
  • Write synthesis notes

Your profile

Are you preparing a Bac+5 degree in mechanical engineering and wish to invest yourself in an ambitious technical project?

Do you have the ambition to develop your expertise in simulation and analysis of physical phenomena?

Do you want to discover work on product architectures combining mechanics and thermal aspects?

You have knowledge in:

  • General physics
  • Thermal and fluidics
  • Thermal calculations
  • Finite element calculation software (desired)

Are analytical mind, rigor, dynamism, and ability to work in a team recognized assets for you?

Then this internship is for you!

A word from the team

The projects are multidisciplinary and often complex. Regular peer reviews with experienced engineers will ensure the smooth running of the internship.
