Job Description

The IT Commodity Manager will develop and execute sourcing strategies for IT-related indirect spend categories, including hardware, software, SaaS, cloud services, telecom, and IT consulting. This role involves optimizing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and aligning procurement initiatives with business objectives. The manager will collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure procurement delivers strategic value and operational excellence.
Must Have:
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for IT commodities.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes for IT spend.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key IT suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with internal teams to align procurement strategies.
  • Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities.
  • Track and report savings and value delivery metrics.
  • Support development and enforcement of procurement policies.
  • Drive standardization and automation of procurement processes.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts.
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to IT procurement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8–10+ years of strategic sourcing and procurement experience in IT categories.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in a senior-level procurement role.
  • Proven success in managing complex IT sourcing initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of IT procurement trends, vendor ecosystems, licensing models, and contract structures.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement technologies and tools.
  • Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working closely with IT, Finance, Legal, and executive leadership.
  • Experience driving procurement transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to manage change effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You Can Expect

The IT Commodity Manager will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for IT-related indirect spend categories, including hardware, software, SaaS, cloud services, telecom, and IT consulting. This role will focus on optimizing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and aligning procurement initiatives with broader business objectives. The manager will collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure procurement delivers strategic value and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for IT commodities to meet cost, quality, and service objectives.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes for IT spend, including RFPs, contract negotiations, and supplier selection.
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key IT suppliers and service providers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement, innovation, and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, and other internal teams to understand business needs and align procurement strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing market insights and procurement expertise.
  • Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, demand management, and supplier consolidation.
  • Track and report savings and value delivery metrics in collaboration with Finance and IT stakeholders
  • Support the development and enforcement of procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Drive standardization and automation of procurement processes for IT spend.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure favorable terms and compliance with company policies.
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to IT procurement, including data security, regulatory compliance, and business continuity.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of strategic sourcing and procurement experience in a global corporate environment, with a strong focus on IT categories (hardware, software, cloud, telecom, services).
  • 5–7+ years of experience in a senior-level procurement role, including leadership of cross-functional and multicultural teams.

Technical & Strategic Skills:

  • Proven success in managing complex IT sourcing initiatives and delivering measurable cost savings and value creation.
  • Deep understanding of IT procurement trends, vendor ecosystems, licensing models, and contract structures.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with experience handling enterprise-level agreements and renewals.
  • Proficiency in procurement technologies and tools such as e-sourcing platforms, spend analytics, and contract lifecycle management systems.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions and geographies.
  • Experience working closely with IT, Finance, Legal, and executive leadership to align procurement strategies with business objectives.

Transformation & Change Management

  • Experience driving procurement transformation initiatives, including process optimization, policy development, and digital enablement.
  • Ability to manage change effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

113,390 - 169,800, $ per annum
