Job Description

Qualcomm IT is seeking a Network Focused IT Operations Center (ITOC) Engineer in Hyderabad, India. This role involves enterprise-wide monitoring and support for data systems, providing Tier 2 support for Qualcomm services, troubleshooting, and reporting. The engineer will operate, monitor, maintain, and support Data Center infrastructure, handle Tier-1 tasks, and respond to infrastructure alerts. A strong networking background with an understanding of the broader IT estate is essential, along with experience in monitoring and ticketing tools.

Must Have:
  • Networking expertise and understanding of IT estate (infra, applications, interactions).
  • Experience with monitoring and ticketing tools (Service Now, Pager Duty, event management).
  • Operate, Monitor, Maintain and support Data Center infrastructure equipment.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 rotational shift format, including night shifts.
  • Perform Tier-1 tasks (calls, tickets SR, CR & Incidents).
  • Strict adherence to NOC policies and procedures.
  • Review trouble tickets for integrity and accuracy.
  • Detect and respond to all infrastructure alerts, escalating as needed.
  • Use network management tools to determine outage nature and resolve problems.
  • Act as a liaison between application and enterprise engineering teams during outages.
  • Manage support calls and track trouble tickets.
  • 7+ years of Networking and NOC experience.
  • Enterprise monitoring and triage support for IT systems, services, and applications.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience on CISCO Catalyst and Nexus portfolio.
  • Sound Understanding and experience with protocols/technologies such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, vPC.
  • Experience with network services: DNS, DHCP, Radius, TACACS, SNMP, LDAP, SMTP, NFS.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN.
  • Proficiency with VLAN, VRF, HSRP, Port Security, Traffic Shaping, Priority Queuing, Class of Service (CoS).
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, access control lists (ACLs), security, firewalls, network traffic analysis.
  • Internet savvy in a production environment (security, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, syslog, VPN).
  • Use of a wide variety of point monitoring tools and procedures.
  • Interfacing with vendors, other IT admins, and end-users.
  • CCNA certified.
  • Incident management (notifications, escalations, communications).

General Summary:

Qualcomm IT is looking for the Network Focused IT Operations Center (ITOC) Engineer to be based out of Hyderabad, India and will responsible for the following:

• While he/she is a networking expert, should also have a good understanding of the IT estate - other infra and application components, how they interact with each and how do they connect to deliver the services to the business i.e. while the depth is in the networking space, should also have an understanding of the breadth of IT

• Provide enterprise-wide monitoring and support for data systems including comprehensive Tier 2 support for Qualcomm services to include troubleshooting and reporting of services.

• Responsible for using consolidated Event Management system to provide - should have hands on experience using monitoring and ticketing tools like Service Now, Pager Duty, event management tools etc.

• Operate, Monitor, Maintain and support Data Center infrastructure equipment.

• Must be open to work in 24/7 format including night shifts on rotational basis.

• Perform Tier-1 tasks (such as calls and tickets SR, CR & Incidents).

• Strictly adhere to all NOC policies and procedures

• Review trouble tickets to ensure integrity and accuracy of data recorded.

• Detect and respond to all infrastructure alerts and escalate to the appropriate parties if necessary.

• Use network management tools to determine the nature of the outage and follow online procedures to resolve the problem.

• Act as a liaison between application and enterprise engineering teams during outages and when appropriate.

• Manage support calls and track to close trouble tickets.

• Must be a good team player. Customer Focus, problem-solving, troubleshooting issues affecting internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.

OR

• 5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 20 lbs.

• 7 + years of Networking and NOC experience

• Enterprise monitoring and triage support for a wide variety of internal and customer facing IT systems, services, and applications

• In depth knowledge and experience on CISCO Catalyst and Nexus portfolio

• Sound Understanding and experience with protocols/technologies such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, vPC, etc.

• Experience with network services such as DNS, DHCP, Radius, TACACS, SNMP, LDAP, SMTP and NFS. Working knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, etc.

• Proficiency working with VLAN, VRF, HSRP, Port Security, Traffic Shaping, Priority Queuing, Class of Service (CoS)

• Must possess an understanding of TCP/IP, access control lists (ACLs), security, firewalls and network traffic analysis. In addition, must be Internet savvy in a production environment with regards to security, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, syslog, and Virtual Private Networks (VPN).

• Use of a wide variety of point monitoring tools and procedures to identify, triage, and escalate IT service degradation or outages.

• Interfacing with vendors, other IT admins, and end-users as necessary to resolve

• CCNA certified, CCNP preferred

• Incident management experience including coordination of notifications, escalations, and communications to IT service owners and management for major incidents and service outages
