Job Description

The Server Software Engineer will be a part of the game creation process, including architectural design, implementation, and debugging on multiple platforms. This role involves working on complex problems with Designers, Artists, and other Engineers in domains such as rendering, gameplay, audio, user interface, online, physics, databases, and tools. The engineer will report to the Operations Development Director and Technical Lead, focusing on estimating, building projects, and delivering excellent results.
Must Have:
  • Mix of hands-on coding and release management for large Java projects, using SQL databases.
  • Create and work on large-scale distributed HTTP-based backend services creating new features and updating existing ones.
  • Resolve defects during QA testing, pre production, production and from the live environment.
  • 3+ years of experience developing software in Java.
  • 1+ years of experience working on online services/servers (HTTP via REST).
  • Working knowledge of the HTTP protocol.
  • Working knowledge of SQL (MYSQL preferred).
  • Experience with unit testing (JUnit).
  • Experience with IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse.

Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).PAY RANGES* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$100,000 - $139,500 CAD*In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees.
