As we continue to grow, we are now looking for a Junior Legal Counsel to join our Legal team.
As a Junior Legal Counsel you will be responsible for supporting Kwalee’s in-house legal team, acting as a key legal advisor within the business, providing strategic and practical legal guidance to support the company’s operations and objectives. You will also be responsible for delivering strategic, commercially sound legal advice across a broad range of areas including contracts, compliance, IP, data protection, and dispute resolution. You will work closely with the publishing, development, and HR teams. Together, you will help ensure Kwalee operates lawfully, ethically, and effectively while supporting growth and innovation.
This is a permanent role based in our Bangalore studio, where our daily in-office collaboration fuels creativity and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice to internal teams on commercial, regulatory, and operational matters
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts with stakeholders
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes and ensure business compliance
- Assist with managing intellectual property, including enforcement actions
- Support the resolution of legal disputes and coordinate with external counsel
- Conduct legal research and prepare reports for senior management
- Support data protection compliance efforts and incident response
- Deliver internal training sessions on legal compliance and risk mitigation
- Provide legal support for M&A, partnerships, and other corporate initiatives
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners
- Assist with contract administration, document management, and legal operations
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification
- 3+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally in-house or within the tech/gaming sector
- Strong experience with commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and IP
- Solid understanding of UK data protection laws and GDPR
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Passion for games and interest in the gaming industry is a plus
- Based in our Bangalore office with 5 days per week on site.
