Job Details

Job Description

1. Department's Development Area, Job Overview, and Role/Position within R&D

  • Analyze differences with our company's vehicles, compile rationalization proposals for parts and structures, and report/propose them to relevant departments such as body design.
  • Collaborate with individual part design and project development, and based on the concept of value engineering, realize new vehicles that maximize value from the customer's perspective from launch, and promote the maintenance and improvement of that value competitiveness during mass production.

*Value Engineering Concept: A concept that aims to not only reduce costs but also improve performance and create added value beyond cost, for the purpose of enhancing the value of Nissan vehicles.*

Detailed Job Description and Expected Role

  • Planning and promotion of VE activities for value optimization based on technical cost analysis and benchmarking of high-voltage batteries.
  • Clarification of our company's position through benchmarking with competitors, extraction of issues and formulation of measures to achieve benchmarks and breakthroughs, and promotion of the adoption of issue resolution measures.
  • Mainly analysis of battery pack structure, mechanical properties, and performance (less analysis of cell/chemical parts).

Job Appeal

  • Through disassembling and investigating many competitor vehicles over a year, it is possible to conduct thorough competitive analysis.
  • Analyze competitor designs, system configurations, and new manufacturing methods, and propose and reflect cost reduction measures in vehicle development.
  • Conduct competitive analysis of parts and systems, and supplier surveys in emerging countries, allowing for competitive analysis from a global perspective.
  • As the work involves improving value from the customer's perspective, you can learn comprehensive vehicle knowledge and skills.
  • Since the work is promoted in cooperation with many internal stakeholders and suppliers, many skills such as management ability and teamwork ability will be honed.
  • There are many opportunities to drive and examine not only our own cars but also competitor cars and parts, making it an environment where you can easily be aware of the product (car).

Workplace Appeal

Within the department, engineers with specialties across the entire vehicle, such as powertrain, chassis, body, and interior/exterior, are promoting VE in collaboration with each design team.

As the relationships between parts and systems have become stronger and more complex in recent years, the importance of value improvement as a vehicle/system has increased.

This allows for active cross-industry collaboration within the department and the ability to involve related development members outside the department to advance work within a larger framework.
