Job Description
Larian Studios is seeking a Language Manager (German) for a 2-year fixed-term contract in Dublin. This role involves owning the quality of German translations, translating various content, maintaining linguistic assets, and providing cultural input. The manager will collaborate with stakeholders and vendors, ensuring accurate localization for high-calibre games like Baldur's Gate 3. This position requires strong German and English language skills and experience in video game localization.
Good To Have:
- At least one AAA game shipped
- Experience with voice acting casting
- Experience with Confluence and JIRA
Must Have:
- Own the quality of the German translations
- Translates in-game text, voice scripts, marketing and PR content
- Creates and maintains translation memories, glossaries, and style guides
- Provides cultural and creative input regarding the localization of Larian products
- Maintains awareness of the games industry in the target market
- Develops and builds strong relationships with relevant stakeholders
- Playtests to confirm in-game text context for accurate translation
- Collaborates with external localization vendors to improve language quality
- Strong writing and editing skills in German
- Fluent in English
- Experience localizing time-delimited dialogues
- Experience with CAT Tools

Responsibilities
- Own the quality of the German translations
- Translates in-game text, voice scripts, marketing and PR content as required to support products and services through development, launch and beyond
- Creates and maintains translation memories, glossaries, and style guides
- Provides cultural and creative input regarding the localization of Larian products into the target region
- Maintains awareness of the games industry in the target market and communicates trends to relevant stakeholders
- Develops and builds strong relationships with relevant stakeholders in an effort to resolve questions or conflicts related to terminology, language quality and workflow
- Playtests to confirm in-game text context for accurate translation
- Collaborates with external localization vendors to improve the language quality
Requirements
- 2 years of experience or more localizing video games
- Strong writing and editing skills in German
- Fluent in English
- Experience localizing time-delimited dialogues
- Experience with CAT Tools, memoQ is a plus
