Mountaintop is a new game studio creating multiplayer games for players that crave a challenge. We’re an independent, remote-first studio primarily located in the US and Canada.

We’re creating the types of games that bring people together — and keep them together for “just one more round.” The types of games that inspired us as kids. The games that become our hobbies, and sometimes our obsessions.

THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Lead Animator who’s passionate about building extraordinary new experiences that inspire others. You’ll play a crucial role in bringing our first title to life. 

YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

    • Managing members of the internal animation team to provide direction, mentorship, career development, and feedback on animation work.
    • Defining, troubleshooting, and providing technical/qualitative feedback for animation work created by external contractors and vendors.
    • Directly contributing to the development and implementation of high-quality gameplay animations that deliver great player experiences.
    • Collaborating with the Principal Animator and Art Director to refine and uphold the animation style for our game and marketing materials.
    • Working closely with production and studio leadership to scope out animation work, provide work estimates, and assist in tracking that work.
    • Assisting the Marketing team with animation direction and character poses.
    • Working closely with designers and engineers to create gameplay prototypes, as well as recognizing opportunities for animation to enhance gameplay
    • Contributing to concept, direction, and game design for all Mountaintop projects
    • Establishing animation best practices that ensure consistently excellent results
    • Creating a team culture that prides itself on excellence, innovation, trust, and respect

ABOUT YOU

    • A love for playing and making amazing games
    • 1+ shipped AAA titles 
    • 4+ years of related industry experience
    • A passion for outstanding gameplay animation
    • Experience working on keyframed first-person viewmodel and third-person character animations
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating mastery over animation fundamentals
    • Self-motivated and eager to contribute in many different areas of development
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
