Job Description

As a Lead Data Engineer at Leapwork, you will design and implement scalable data architectures, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT pipelines. You will lead and mentor data engineering teams, collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and ensure data integrity and performance. This role involves building core data systems from the ground up in a greenfield environment, leveraging platforms like Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Snowflake to drive data-driven decisions across the organization.

  • Oversee movement and management of large datasets, ensuring data integrity, quality, and accuracy.
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role, with experience building or scaling data pipelines.
  • Deep knowledge of programming languages like Python, SQL, and Java.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and GCP.
  • Experience with big data technologies like Spark and Hadoop.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and large-scale data pipeline design.
  • Proven experience in leading technical projects and teams.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve complex database and data processing issues.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership:

Design and implement scalable data architectures, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering tools and best practices,

leveraging

platforms such as

Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Snowflake

to deliver high-performing, secure, and well-governed data environments.

Take ownership of building core data systems and frameworks in a greenfield environment.

  • Team Leadership & Mentoring:

Guide, mentor, and develop data engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

Bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Performance & Scalability:

Manage and

optimize

database performance,

identify

and resolve data performance issues, and ensure data infrastructure

remains

agile and responsive.

  • Data Management:

Oversee the movement and management of large datasets, ensuring data integrity, quality, and accuracy across different systems.

Role Requirements:

  • Experience:

5 years of experience

from

a similar role.

Experience with building or scaling data pipelines, systems, or architectures from early-stage setups or greenfield projects is highly valued.

  • Execution excellence:

Capable with handling quick delivery and ensuring quality

  • Technical Proficiency:

Deep knowledge of programming languages like Python, SQL, and Java;

expertise

in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure,

Microsoft Fabric

and

GCP; and experience with big data technologies like Spark and Hadoop.

  • Data Architecture:

Strong understanding of data warehousing,

hands on experience

building and

optimizing

ETL/ELT

processes and

designing large-scale data pipelines.

  • Leadership & Communication:

Proven experience in leading technical projects and teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.

  • Problem-Solving:

Ability to

identify, investigate, and resolve complex database and data processing issues.

  • Adaptability: Willingness to stay ahead of emerging technologies and adapt to the constantly evolving data landscape.
  • Hands-on Leadership:

A
