Job Description

This role involves leading the design of Locomotive Engine Controls to meet customer requirements, cost, and reliability expectations. You will define system-level requirements, prepare test plans, perform system validation, and lead design reviews. The position requires bringing creative ideas for product, process, and innovation to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness, collaborating with cross-functional and global teams from design to product launch.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical/Instrumentation/aerospace engineering.
  • Experience in designing and developing modern internal combustion engine controls, powertrain for locomotive / automotive systems.
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, and calibration tools used in engine control system development.
  • Ability to lead technical development dealing with multiple stake holders and bring quality solutions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.

This position is for on-site work, in Contagem, Minas Gerais.

Who will you be working with?

You will be working with cross countries team from India, Brazil, USA. You will collaborate more with multiple stakeholders like Performance, controls, Systems, Field teams from Design till launch the product.

What do we want to know about you?

Required

What will your typical day look like?

  • The job has the responsibility for leading designing Locomotive Engine Control that meet the customer requirements, cost & reliability expectations. It includes defining system level requirements, preparing test plans & performing system validation, lead and participate in Design reviews and make technical decisions.
  • Lead and drive culture of quality and technological refinement to existing designs.
  • Design and develop and Engine Controls Systems for Locomotives.
  • Lead / Participate in product conceptual designs and concept trade off analysis.
  • Design, develop, HITL testing and implementation of model based design for engine controls and lead the reviews, close multiple development phases.
  • Interact with locomotive systems, sub-systems, component teams to define and document vehicle control system requirements and interfaces.
  • Develop Model as per design requirement and carryout desktop simulations to verify the design.
  • Develop Validation plans and perform control/subsystem/system validation.
  • Conduct Simulator testing and later participate in locomotive testing to validate vehicle control as required.
  • Lead Design reviews; make presentation and status reports to Senior Management.
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional & global teams to meet project objectives.
