Job Summary
The Lead Marketing Artist at Kabam drives the visual direction and quality of marketing art for mobile and PC titles. This role involves hands-on creation, concepting, and oversight of static assets for various channels like brand, social, UA, and ASO. The artist collaborates with Product Marketing, UA, Brand, Community, and Game Teams to produce high-performing visuals, ensuring brand alignment and compliance. The role also includes vendor management, creative feedback, and mentoring junior artists, contributing to Kabam's excellence in free-to-play gaming.
Must Have
- Concept, design, illustrate, and iterate on high-impact static content.
- Build branding assets for new events, feature launches, and game releases.
- Ensure creative aligns with product brand identity, tone, and visual language.
- Maintain compliance with licensor requirements and platform guidelines.
- Apply strong typography, layout, hierarchy, and color theory.
- Oversee and provide clear feedback on externally produced artwork.
- Lead asset iteration cycles from concept through final delivery.
- Uphold a consistent creative quality bar across all outputs.
- Build scalable templates and workflow systems.
- Represent Creative Services in cross-functional meetings.
- Partner with UA and Analytics teams to integrate performance insights.
- Guide and mentor junior and mid-level artists.
- Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of professional experience in digital design, marketing, or entertainment creative fields.
- At least 2–3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
- Strong digital portfolio demonstrating campaign work and marketing art.
- Entertainment industry experience.
- Deep understanding of mobile and PC marketing (UA, ASO, social creative ecosystems).
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects).
- Proficient with Figma or similar wireframing/UX visualization tools.
- Strong digital sketching and storyboarding ability.
- Experience managing vendor pipelines, external artists, or outsourced creative production.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, communicate clearly, and present work effectively.

- Assist with video and motion-based production (animating elements, editing short-form content).
- Test and implement new AI tools and methodologies.
- Experience integrating AI and automation tools into creative workflows.

Reporting to the Head of Creative, the Lead Marketing Artist helps drive the visual direction, quality bar, and creative innovation for Kabam’s marketing art across mobile and PC titles. This role blends hands-on creation with leadership, assisting the Head of Creative with concepting, execution, and oversight of consumer-facing static assets. The Lead Marketing Artist partners closely with Product Marketing, UA, Brand, Community, and Game Team to develop best-in-class visuals that elevate our franchises and drive performance. This role also supports vendor management, creative feedback cycles, and the growth of internal artists through guidance and mentorship.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Creation of Static Assets for Various channels
- Concept, design, illustrate, and iterate on high-impact static content for brand, social, community, UA, and ASO.
- Build branding assets for new events, feature launches, and game releases, including visual identity kits and supporting brand guides.
- Ensure all creative aligns with each product’s core brand identity, tone, and visual language.
- Maintain compliance with licensor requirements and platform guidelines.
- Apply strong typography, layout, hierarchy, and color theory to craft compelling visual narratives.
- Produce style frames, moodboards, and concept directions for campaigns and feature launches.
- Oversee and provide clear feedback on externally produced artwork, ensuring alignment with internal standards.
- Assist with video and motion-based production as needed, including animating elements for videos (such as cinemagraphs), editing short-form content, and producing lightweight video deliverables.
- Production
- Lead asset iteration cycles from concept through final delivery.
- Uphold a consistent creative quality bar across all outputs and pipelines.
- Build scalable templates and workflow systems to support localization, versioning, and automated creative scaling.
- Partner with Creative Ops to identify bottlenecks and evolve pipelines, tooling, and best practices.
- Document and maintain creative standards and guidelines for marketing art.
- Test and implement new AI tools and methodologies to improve efficiency, enhance creative output, and streamline day-to-day production.
- Collaboration
- Represent Creative Services in cross-functional meetings, ensuring alignment between Marketing, UA, Product, and Brand.
- Partner with UA and Analytics teams to understand performance signals and integrate insights into creative direction.
- Work closely with the Brand team to develop toolkits, templates, and campaign guides.
- Contribute to creative brainstorms, share trend insights, and champion innovation across channels.
- Guide and mentor junior and mid-level artists by providing feedback, training, and direction.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of professional experience in digital design, marketing, or entertainment creative fields (including at least 2–3 years in a senior or lead capacity).
- Strong digital portfolio demonstrating campaign work, marketing art, and ownership from concept to delivery.
- Entertainment industry experience is required; gaming experience strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of mobile and PC marketing, including UA, ASO, and social creative ecosystems.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects).
- Proficient with Figma or similar wireframing/UX visualization tools.
- Strong digital sketching and storyboarding ability.
- Experience managing vendor pipelines, external artists, or outsourced creative production.
- Experience integrating AI and automation tools into creative workflows is a strong advantage.

The typical hiring range listed above is specific to candidates located in Vancouver. The salary will be determined based on your knowledge, skills and competencies, and you’ll have room to grow after you join!
