Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Lead Material Handler to join our Building and Finishing Duluth Team. Responsibilities include managing inventory, pulling finished products, assembling orders, and preparing shipments. You will also receive and process inbound materials, operate forklifts for loading/unloading and material transport, and train new employees. This role involves taking on supervisory responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor, including task prioritization, shift scheduling, and problem-solving. Additionally, you will verify material completeness against documents, check for damages, maintain exception records, and ensure work location compliance with safety and housekeeping policies. Other duties as directed by the Supervisor will also be performed.
Must have:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4-5 years experience in manufacturing/distribution
  • At least 1 year forklift operation experience
  • Ability to meet forklift certification training

Job Details

Pay rate: $24.50 Hr.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Lead Material Handler to join our Building and Finishing Duluth Team.

 

  • Manage inventory, including pulling finished products, assembling orders, and preparing shipments according to company policy and customer requests.
  • Receive and process inbound materials, including finished products from other locations, raw materials, and supplies, transferring them to appropriate storage locations.
  • Operate forklifts to load/unload trucks and transport materials between departments and buildings, maintaining accurate logs of transferred materials.
  • Train new employees and assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor, including prioritizing tasks, shift scheduling, and problem-solving.
  • Verify completeness of materials against appropriate documents, check for damages, and maintain records of exceptions.
  • Ensure work location compliance with company safety and housekeeping policies.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor.

 

Preferred Skills

Education:  High school diploma or GED certificate.
Years Experience: 4-5 years experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment which must have included at least one year experience in forklift operation; ability to meet company training program requirements for certification for forklift license.
