Job Description

Midgar Studio is seeking a Lead Programmer for the development of Edge of Memories and future projects. The role involves supervising the programming team, defining technical solutions, ensuring code quality, and collaborating with other departments. Responsibilities include prototyping gameplay modules, optimizing the game, and contributing to technical documentation. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in the video game industry, strong C++ and Unreal Engine 5 skills, and advanced knowledge of code architecture and data structures.

We mainly create PC and Console games that blend Western and Japanese influences.

Position Duties

As part of the development of Edge of Memories and its future projects, Midgar Studio is looking for its Lead Programmer.

Your main missions:

Supervise the work of the programming team and ensure milestones are met
Define technical choices and implement technical solutions for the project
Implement and ensure the follow-up of good working practices
Guarantee the quality and maintainability of the codebase and tools
Participate in improving the production process and ensure good synchronization with other teams (Design, Animation, etc.)
Prototype, create and implement gameplay modules, tools and make modifications to the game engine in collaboration with programmers and game designers
Supervise and participate in game debugging and optimization work
Contribute to the technical documentation.

Candidate Profile

You have at least 5 years of experience in the video game industry and a first experience as a Lead Programmer or equivalent
Very good knowledge of C++ programming and Unreal Engine 5 game engine
Advanced knowledge in code architecture, algorithms and data structures
You have good knowledge of technical constraints for programming and asset management in a real-time 3D engine
You master versioning, task management and bug tracking tools
You are organized, methodical and proactive
You are comfortable communicating orally and in writing
You master technical English
An appetite for action games and JRPGs is a plus
Knowledge of 3D gameplay and gamefeel is a plus
Knowledge or an appetite for engine programming is a plus
