Job Description

Lead Simulation is responsible for understanding product design requirements, performing mechanical simulations, and providing solutions to optimize product performance. This role involves proactive engagement with project teams and architects to capture simulation needs, fostering a 'simulation first' culture, and staying updated with industry trends. The Lead Simulation ensures design recommendations align with manufacturing constraints and contributes to digital verification of designs for Mobile Surgery products.
Must have:
  • Responsible as a SME for simulation of Mobile Surgery products at HIC
  • Provide hand calculations/ simulations for ‘digital verification of design’
  • Accurate results interpretation and reporting recommendations for design change
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with +7 years of experience as Simulation Engineer
  • Working knowledge (10+ yrs) on simulation of complex products involving fabricated, machined, casting and sheet metal parts
  • Experience in Structural Analysis, Fatigue Analysis
  • Good exposure to Multi-body dynamics
  • Expertise on various analysis types through simulation and its results interpretation- Static, Dynamic, Harmonic, Thermal, Vibration etc.
  • Knowledge of ANSYS, Hyper mesh
  • Expertise in pre-processing and Post-processing of ANSYS
  • Expertise on results interpretations with engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to present the results, comparison, analogy for senior leadership review
  • Good command of English (both written and verbal)
Good to have:
  • Experience in AI implementation in FEA
  • Knowledge of HW/SW interfaces
  • Knowledge of reliability
  • Knowledge and understanding of other disciplines with which co‑operation takes place
  • Knowledge of a specific area of technology or product feature

Lead Simulation

Lead Simulation has responsibility to understand product design requirements, carry out relevant mechanical simulations and provide solutions/ recommendations based on simulation to improve/ optimize product performance.

Lead Simulation ensures that he/she abreast with information related to projects, interacts with project team, architects to ensure simulation requirements are captured proactively. He/She needs to network within R&D team to understand opportunities where Simulation can play important role and help to bring simulation first culture for First Time Right solutions. He/ She should be familiar with latest trends in simulation, he should bring outside in perspective to improve and strengthen simulation capabilities within HIC R&D. He/ She should ensure that design improvement/ optimization recommendations provided are in line with manufacturing constraints.

In depth knowledge of the Mechanical domain established by an additional training or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Your role:

  • Responsible as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) for simulation of Mobile Surgery products at HIC
  • Responsible to be part of design review team to identify gaps/capability as needed for functional requirements of design.
  • Responsible to provide hand calculations/ simulations for ‘digital verification of design’
  • Delegates, coaches and verifies the implementation by Engineers.
  • Provides recommendation for mutual consistency and efficient integration of the separate modules in modular, easy-to-maintain units that meets the product specification.
  • Understands consequences of design by conducting simulations and communicates to the architecture.
  • Ensures that there is proper documentation for his/her simulations.
  • Keeps abreast of technical developments in own field through study of the literature, and technical contacts, and propagates it.
  • Accurate results interpretation and reporting recommendations for design change
  • Brings industry practice and various product perspective for discussion and decision
  • Gains product knowledge at component level, sub-system level and System level to understand design CTQs and its impact
  • Proactive approach and work with designers to gain good understanding of product development pahse and introduce simulation steps
  • Prepare design manual for Simulation tasks; Release Designer’s guide on simulation methods and results
  • Owns the complete responsibility of component design simulation results
  • Defines, executes and takes the lead in concept and feasibility studies with a limited scope to investigate the usability of new technologies.
  • Contributes to technology roadmaps and other strategic related activities.
  • Takes technological or process related improvements initiatives within the scope of at least the mechanical development group.
  • Contributes to the Work Breakdown Structure/ the planning process of his/her area.
  • Draws up personal schedule and reports on progress.
  • Inspires his team members to get the job done.
  • Performs work in line with the processes that have been agreed in the department.

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from reputed institute with + 7 years of experience as Simulation Engineer.
  • Working knowledge (10+ yrs) on simulation of complex products involving fabricated, machined, casting and sheet metal parts. Working experience of simulation of complex subassemblies.
  • Experience ins Structural Analysis, Fatigue Analysis
  • Good exposure to MBD - Multi-body dynamics
  • Expertise on various analysis types through simulation and its results interpretation- Static, Dynamic, Harmonic, Thermal, Vibration etc.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art in programming and design methods & tools (Simulation – ANSYS, Hyper mesh).
  • Expertise in pre-processing and Post-processing of ANSYS
  • Experience in AI implementation in FEA would be an added advantage
  • Experience in working in teams.
  • Expertise on results interpretations with engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to present the results, comparison, analogy for senior leadership review
  • Ability to do modular, sub-modular method of analyzing to support conclusions.
  • Knowledge of HW/SW interfaces.
  • Knowledge of reliability required
  • Knowledge and understanding of other disciplines with which co‑operation takes place.
  • Knowledge of a specific area of technology or product feature.
  • Good command of English (both written and verbal).
  • Disciplined team worker, ability to work independently and to act pro-actively
  • Analytical, creative, and abstract thinker.
  • Accurate, quality minded and improvement attitude
  • Ability to coach, support and direct the Engineers in a subgroup.
  • Ability to communicate on different levels and is aware of the means and the effect of communication.
  • Is capable to introduce efficiency improvements on project level (change management).

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.

Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

This role is an office-based role.
