Job Description

This role is for an experienced Customs & Global Trade professional to join Aptiv's Global Trade Compliance team in Wuppertal, Germany. The Manager EMEA Trade Compliance will ensure efficient and compliant import/export operations across EMEA, adhering to all regulations and internal policies. Responsibilities include developing policies, delivering training, managing broker contracts, overseeing HTS classification, implementing internal assessments, and driving duty savings initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of experience in trade or customs roles.
Good To Have:
  • Experience in SAP GTS, HTS and ECCN classification assignment.
  • French language skills.
Must Have:
  • Development of policies and procedures relating to customs regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and deliver training globally and across all functions.
  • Establish, document and ensure periodic update of general trade compliance processes.
  • Lead resolutions for business teams during Import and other Customs Compliance related audits.
  • Manage third party brokers contract and renewal process within the EMEA region.
  • Manage HTS classification process and provide escalatory support.
  • Implement Aptiv’s Global Trade Compliance Internal Assessments.
  • Manage EMEA trade systems and lead implementation of new modules.
  • Ensure compliance with, and optimisation of, all applicable customs special procedures.
  • Lead resolution of issues for Aptiv sites on origin determination and Free Trade Agreements.
  • Deliver SME and ensure Aptiv participation in Supply Chain Security and Import Compliance Programs.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of customs related records.
  • Drive EMEA duty savings projects and initiatives.
  • Resolution of operational compliance emergencies and ability to make compliance decisions.
  • Conduct analysis on import/export data to identify potential duty mitigation opportunities.
  • Provide due diligence and M&A support.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support corporate planning initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Trade, Customs, or related finance/operational roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • English and German fluency.

Experienced Customs & Global Trade professional required to join our Global Trade Compliance team in our German Headquarter. The Manager EMEA Trade Compliance will be part of a team responsible for the import/export compliance program for operations throughout EMEA. This role focuses on ensuring that EDS business is conducted efficiently & at all times in full compliance with all import and export regulations, as well as all internal policies and procedures, reporting to the EMEA Trade Lead.

YOUR ROLE

  • Development of policies and procedures relating to customs regulatory requirements to be followed by the business across the region
  • Maintain and deliver training globally and across all functions and business units to relevant stakeholders
  • Establish, document and ensure periodic update of general trade compliance processes and procedures
  • Lead resolutions for business teams during Import and other Customs Compliance related audits.
  • Manage third party brokers contract and renewal process within the EMEA region
  • Manage HTS classification process and provide escalatory support to Classification team
  • Implement Global Trade Compliance Internal Assessments and manage identified improvements/developments.
  • Manage EMEA trade systems and lead implementation of new modules
  • Ensure compliance with, and optimisation of, all applicable customs special procedures (IPR, OPR, Customs Warehousing, Temporary Import, etc)
  • Lead resolution of issues for sites on origin determination, qualification under Free Trade Agreements and issuing of long-term Supplier declarations.
  • Deliver SME and ensure participation in Supply Chain Security and Import Compliance Programs (eg, AEO).
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of customs related records in accordance with and Legal requirements.
  • Drive EMEA duty savings projects and initiatives using trade data analytics, with close collaboration with GTC leadership team
  • Resolution of operational compliance emergencies and ability to make compliance decisions on actions for business leaders
  • Conduct analysis on import/export data to identify potential duty mitigation opportunities
  • Provide due diligence and M&A support
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Logistics, Tax, Finance, Sites etc.) to support corporate planning initiatives

YOUR BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Trade, Customs, or related finance/operational roles within and advisory/consultancy firm, or multinational corporation.
  • Experience in SAP GTS, HTS and ECCN classification assignment preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • English and German fluency required.
  • French language skills are a plus.
