Job Description

Good To Have:
  • Successful completion of CFA, FRM, or PRM designation
  • Knowledge and experience in software and platforms such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, AtRisk, Crystal Ball, and FINCAD
Must Have:
  • Provide valuation of complex financial instruments (debentures, options, structured products, etc.)
  • Prepare valuation reports for financial reporting, disputes, taxation, M&A, and corporate governance
  • Review client materials and independently construct robust valuation models
  • Manage multiple client engagements concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work
  • Conduct in-depth market research on valuation methodologies, industry trends, and technical topics
  • Embrace and apply new tools and technologies to enhance workflow efficiency
  • Lead Valuations teams, coaching and supporting team development
  • Establish credibility with existing clients by demonstrating subject matter expertise
  • Completed Master of Mathematical Finance (or equivalent) and strong academic background in a quantitative or finance discipline
  • Minimum of 4+ years progressive experience in valuations, leveraged finance, banking, or risk management
  • In-depth understanding of mathematical models for pricing complex securities and deep knowledge of private investments and capital markets
  • Exhibit strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and project management skills, with a professional and personable demeanor
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and analytical rigor

In deal valuation at PwC, you will focus on providing analysis and valuation services for mergers, acquisitions, and other financial transactions. You will help clients make informed decisions by assessing the worth and potential risks of various deals.

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience and deep knowledge of complex financial instruments combined with a keen understanding of capital markets and business acumen.

Meaningful work you’ll be a part of:

As a Complex Financial Instrument Valuations Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide valuation of complex financial instruments such as debentures with embedded derivatives, options, structure products, contingent considerations, management equity plans, commodity contracts, private credits, venture capitals.
  • Prepare valuation reports in support of financial reporting, disputes, taxation, corporate planning, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and corporate governance.
  • Review client-provided materials, including term sheets, and independently construct robust valuation models tailored to the engagement context.
  • Manage multiple client engagements concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work products in accordance with agreed-upon timelines.
  • Conduct in-depth market research on valuation methodologies, industry trends, and technical topics to support analysis and client deliverables.
  • Embrace and apply new tools and technologies to enhance workflow efficiency, analytical depth, and client service delivery.
  • Lead Valuations teams, coaching and supporting team development and sharing technical knowledge across the national and global PwC network.
  • Establish credibility with existing clients by demonstrating subject matter expertise and knowledge.

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve:

  • Completed Master of Mathematical Finance (or equivalent) and a strong academic background in a quantitative or finance discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Financial Engineering, or other relevant postgraduate degrees).
  • Minimum of 4+ years progressive experience in valuations, leveraged finance, banking, risk management.
  • Successful completion of CFA, FRM, or PRM designation is an asset.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of mathematical models used for pricing complex securities, deep knowledge of private investments and capital markets.
  • Exhibit strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
