Job Description
As the Marketing Art Director, you will serve as the creative engine and visual lead for all marketing-facing assets of our AAA titles. You will define and execute a unified visual identity and storytelling system across key art, trailers, screenshots, social assets, and promotional campaigns while also being hands-on in production with your team. You will supervise our video team, our senior marketing designer, external partners, and coordinate with Product, Marketing and Communications, but your domain is purely creative and executional. We’ve built a nimble, fast-turnaround team, so you must thrive in a high-velocity environment and deliver premium visuals that delight players.
Your daily tasks:
- Set the artistic vision of all marketing visuals, defining mood, style, composition, color, tone, and narrative across assets such as key art, beauty shots, screenshots, trailers, video assets, and social creatives.
- Work closely with the Development Art Director and Producers to ensure strong alignment between marketing and in-game visuals, creating a cohesive and consistent player experience from the first key art or trailer to the final in-game world.
- Lead and manage the video creation pipeline, from storyboarding to editing, motion graphics, trailer direction, in-engine captures or cinematic captures. Translate game themes, characters, and world-building into strong video storytelling and beats that work in a marketing context.
- Supervise and mentor the senior marketing designer and the video team. Drive hands-on work, create assets, give feedback, paint over, iterate visuals, and join production when needed, not just ideate.
- Ensure visual consistency and alignment between in-game art direction and marketing channels, including digital, social, events, and trailers. Maintain cohesion across platforms such as Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile.
- Estimate production timelines, define processes and pipelines for the creative team, streamline cooperation between creative, development, and marketing.
- Own and elevate the quality bar of every visual asset, review, critique, and refine until outstanding. Define quality gates and champion craft excellence.
- Translate creative briefs into actionable visual direction and participate directly in asset creation. You must be comfortable sitting down with the team to generate, iterate, and produce.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Community teams, not to define campaign strategy or messaging, but to bring those ideas to life visually and raise the entire team's output.
- Act as a visual storyteller who builds narrative beats in visuals and video that connect emotionally with players, highlight world, character, and atmosphere, and support marketing objectives such as brand awareness, acquisition, and engagement.
- Stay up to date with industry visual and marketing trends, competitive benchmarks in game marketing, awareness of formats, channels, video and social best practices, and platform-specific constraints, and bring fresh ideas to the table.
Qualifications
- Proven senior creative leader, such as Senior Art Director or Creative Director in gaming or entertainment, with hands-on production experience and leadership of visual marketing or game art teams.
- Deep expertise in mood, composition, visual storytelling, and executing distinctive artistic styles across multiple formats including 2D, 3D, and video.
- Exceptional proficiency in creative tools and workflows including Adobe Creative Suite, 3D or engine capture pipelines, motion graphics, and video editing.
- Strong video-first mindset. You have directed or produced game marketing videos or trailers and understand pacing, story, beats, motion design, and editing workflows.
- Proven ability to both lead and roll up your sleeves. You can mentor, supervise, and execute high-quality work yourself as part of a lean team.
- Extensive experience in the game industry or closely related entertainment fields. You understand how visuals support player experience, marketing channels, and platform requirements for Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile.
- Excellent communicator and collaborator. You work well across product, marketing, community, and development teams, interpret briefs quickly, and translate them into visuals effectively.
- Passion for games, strong visual culture, and a portfolio showing high-caliber game or entertainment marketing visuals, trailer captures, social creative executions, and key art.
- Comfortable in a high-velocity environment, delivering top-tier quality under tight turnaround times.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in trailer direction or motion graphics.
- Familiarity with cinematic capture workflows, engine capture in Unreal, Unity, or in-house tools, or creating world and beat visuals in engine.
- Understanding of platform-specific visual requirements (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, etc.).
