Job Description

The Materials Handler I is responsible for receiving, shipping, storing, and supporting all material types, specifically for Manufacturing replenishment. This includes checking incoming deliveries, receiving and storing materials, monitoring inventory, documenting orders, performing transactions, and maintaining shelving. The role involves real-time electronic transactions in Warehouse Management software and ensuring accuracy in logging, labeling, and tracking material lot information. Other responsibilities include aiding in identifying non-conforming materials and following safety guidelines. The job requires working in warehouse conditions with long periods of standing, climbing, bending, walking, and reaching, and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must have:

  • Ensure accuracy with logging, labeling, tracking.

  • Inventory, warehouse, shipping and/or, receiving experience is preferred.
  • Materials handling experience within the medical device industry.

Job Details

Position Summary:

Perform work in compliance with all cGMP, ISO, and FDA regulations in addition to company policy and safety guidelines. Responsible for the physical movement, support, and administrative tasks involved in receiving, shipping, storing, and support of all material types. Specifically in material replenishment support of Manufacturing. This role will also be responsible for the real time electronic transactions in various Warehouse Management software. Learn and implement basics of lean manufacturing and good housekeeping principles.

 

Primary Duties:

  1. Check incoming deliveries to make sure all ordered material meets quality standards.
  2. Receive, quantify, and store incoming material with warehouse equipment from various delivery sources.
  3. Monitor inventory levels and suggest new orders when needed.
  4. Document orders, materials, and any stock movements.
    1. For Reagent teams, break down, clean, organize, and prep raw material ready for manufacturing in accordance with procedure and production requirements.
  5. Perform related transactions, bin maintenance, and maintain shelving for the stocking of material.
  6. Perform real time daily replenishment of material in a “Just in Time” manner to support internal customers.
  7. Process all deliveries to ensure material transactions occur for all departmental activities.
  8. Ensure high level of accuracy with logging, labeling, tracking, and entering material lot information into Warehouse Management software.
  9. Aid in the identification and movement of non-conforming material.
  10. Follow all general OSHA Safety Guidelines for warehouses.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

  1. Exemplify professionalism and collaborative interpersonal communication with internal and external customers.
  2. Ensure continuous compliance with applicable training including but not limited to Work Instruction Documents.
  3. Demonstrate high level awareness of safety protocol within work environment.
  4. In the event a job function requires the use of a company vehicle, a valid Driver’s License is required.

 

Training/Education/Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. This is an entry-level role. No previous experience is required, however, inventory, warehouse, shipping and/or, receiving experience is preferred.
  3. Materials handling experience within the medical device industry, including working with the FDA regarding control of materials for instruments and chemistry, preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. High level of accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in all job duties.
  2. An understanding of all warehouse functions. 
  3. Ability to proficiently use MS Office Suite and internal software. 
  4. Excellent communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in warehouse conditions with long periods of standing, climbing, bending, walking, and reaching in wide temperature ranges. High level of repetitive motion. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to operate material handling equipment. Overtime may be required. The work is fast paced and must be able to work under pressure.
