This role, reporting to the Planning and Warehousing lead, is responsible for managing and optimizing supply and capacity planning and scheduling to ensure efficient site resource utilization and timely procurement of raw materials and packaging components. The position plays a crucial role in operational improvements, change management, capital projects, new product launches, and other supply chain activities impacting product availability. The manager will oversee a team of schedulers and buyers, ensuring the creation and adherence to yearly, monthly, and weekly production and purchasing plans to meet inventory policies and production demands, with a focus on customer service and inventory optimization.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or related field
  • 6-8 years of experience in Inventory control Planning, Purchasing, and shipping
  • End-to-end Supply Chain knowledge

Job Purpose:

  • Reporting to the Planning and Warehousing lead, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for managing and optimizing all activities related to the supply and capacity planning and scheduling to ensure optimization of available site resources and purchasing and delivery of raw materials and packaging components to the production site.
  • This position is integral to key activities related to operational improvements and change management, e.g., capital projects, new manufacturing operations start-up, new product launches and other Supply Chain management activities and business programs, that impact product supply.
  • This position manages a team of schedulers and buyers, ensuring the long term and short term planning with yearly, monthly and weekly production and purchasing plans on-time availability of materials at adequate levels following the inventory policies to support production plans.
  • The focus of the role is to achieve required levels of customer service, implementing best practices and inventory policies to optimize available inventory. This position is integral to key activities related to inventory improvements and change management, supporting capital projects, new manufacturing operations start-up, new product launches and other Supply Chain management activities and business programs that impact product supply.
  • It also develops and monitors Key Performance Indicators and processes among internal processes to optimize inventory and achieve high customer service.
  • Manage continuous improvement frameworks of direct and indirect resources on areas as ERP (SAP), material flow, inventory control and overall materials management through various Production planning & Purchasing processes. Also coordinates material availability with other functions SLT-1 co-workers (Planning, Procurement, Quality Control and Technical).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage optimization of inventories as per targeted inventories with no stock outs.
  • Actively participate and lead in the S&OP process / meetings with commercial and CMO.
  • Frequent review of MRP/ MPS, and ordering parameters to optimize inventory levels.
  • Ensure and monitor capacity utilization and resource planning for better plant recoveries.
  • Ensure and monitor material ordering as per ordering policies for having smooth operations.
  • Mange timely creation and updating of item master in accordance company guidelines.
  • Coordinate and collaborate strongly with other departments to align activities and resource requirements to meet the site’s production and financial plans.
  • Develop and manage long-term and short-term production plans for Jamshoro to utilize optimal resources in accordance with the SRM process and order fulfillment meetings.
  • Communicate effectively for impactful participation in weekly forums on local and regional supply chain issues with regional heads
  • Ensure the highest OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance.
  • Maintain CTP, CTV and CTR as per their targets.
  • Conduct OFM and SRM process with production, quality and Finance.
  • Lead the LTCP (Long term capacity planning) for 5-10 years, identifying CAPEX requirements, suggesting alternates alternatives in case of capacity shortfalls in production and warehousing.
  • Long, Medium- & Short-term planning for the procurement of quality RM / PM at optimal cost to support production at Site.
  • Manage timely processing of Purchase Orders and liaison with suppliers to meet OTIF and support the execution of the plans for the timely delivery of materials at Site.
  • Manage the department and team with strong governance and monitoring KPIs with their weekly /Monthly adherence to ensure uninterrupted supplies and prevent stock-outs.
  • Responsible review department performance and conduct meetings.
  • Ensure timely processing of LC / BC and other payments. Liaison with banks and government authorities (State Bank of Pakistan, Drug Regulatory of Pakistan, Excise and Taxation, FBR, etc.) for obtaining necessary NOCs / necessary permissions required under the law and having adequate knowledge of using WeBoc, PSW , Bank portals, DRAP portals and other relevant systems.
  • Ensure documents are processed for Custom Clearance and goods are cleared on time to avoid storage / detention charges at Port.
  • Liaison with Trading Partners, Banks, DRAP, Customs for the smooth processing of payments for export Orders.
  • Liaison with clearing agents and forwarding agents for smooth import and export shipments.
  • Managing inbound and outbound transportation to and from Site in cost effective manner.
  • Conducting Vendor evaluation through KPIs.
  • Responsible to generate savings and continuous improvement programs.
  • Responsible to ensure on-time materials & components availability to support the production plan in compliance with inventory policies and targets.
  • Ensures a privileged link between the site and the suppliers to ensure the availability of materials to support production plans.
  • Supports commercial launch of new products and product transfers through on-time and effective procurement of materials in addition to represent Site on various regional or external (CMO) committees/task forces related to Procurement/Purchasing, ERP system or planning.
  • Provide priorities within Materials Scheduling, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Technical, and other relevant departments to achieve customer service and financial goals.
  • Evaluates and implements when appropriate, all SAP systems enhancements to maximize utilization of automated purchasing including system parameters updates.
  • Analyzes SAP output to assure accuracy and appropriateness of department plans and actions, oversees the scheduling of materials to assure maximum performance.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the SAP Production and Inventory Control systems (PIR-Purchase Info Record, Item Master, Bill of Material, and Routing files to assure and effective coordination of resources.
  • Maintains effective procedures to avoid or identify and dispose of obsolete inventoried items developing and implementing effective production and inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate departments leads (Planning, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Technical, Engineering and Finance) the timely resolution of issues impeding the production plan. Drives the escalation to senior management of potential supply issues related to suppliers that could put at risk the production plan.
  • Externally, share responsibility with the Operations managers to establish strategic plans to execute viable production plans to support customer orders and financial results. Internally, with the Planning manager establishes departmental area objectives and inventory plans used for site budgeting.
  • Comply and ensure compliance to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Quality and other related policies, guidelines, and requirements as applicable by law and GSK Corporate Guidelines.
  • Comply and ensure compliance to Environment, Health and Safety policies, guidelines, and requirements as applicable by law and GSK Corporate Guidelines.
  • Any other responsibility assigned from time to time as per business requirements.

Skills and Competencies:

  • At least bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field Or Science graduate with Supply Chain
  • 6-8 years of experience in Inventory control Planning, Purchasing and shipping
  • End to end Supply Chain, SAP master data setups, Export trade route setups, Purchasing and shipping and custom clearance management.
  • SNP APO /SAP-ECC knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and Power BI
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
  • Strong analytical skills, Continuous Improvement mindset
