ML & Research Intern

Osmo is a digital olfaction company seeking a summer ML & Research Intern to join their team in New York, NY. The intern will contribute to building capabilities and driving cutting-edge research in machine learning, focusing on scent data. Responsibilities include diving into datasets, developing innovative ML models, and creating new problem formulations to unlock computational capabilities in olfaction.

Must Have

• Dive into datasets, derive insights, and evaluate ML models.
• Develop innovative ML models and data featurizations for scent data.
• Current Masters or PhD student in CS, ML, AI, or related fields.
• Comfortable with linear algebra and statistics.
• Experienced in applying ML techniques with PyTorch, JAX, or Tensorflow.

Good to Have

• Experience with graph neural networks in cheminformatics problems.
• Experience with mass spectrometry data (GCMS) using machine learning.
• Experience with protein structure modeling / protein language models.
• Experience with metabolic pathway databases.
• Experience with Bayesian optimization for experimental design.
• Experience with human sensory data.

Osmo is looking for a summer intern to join our ML team

to build our capabilities and drive cutting-edge research that can lead to a different future for humanity. You will be a member of the machine learning team, reporting to the Head of Machine Learning.

Responsibilities:

• Dive deeply into various datasets, understand their characteristics and derive insight and an evaluation framework for real-world machine learning models.
• Develop innovative ML models, creative data featurizations, or new problem formulations to take advantage of scent data in various modalities and unlock new computational capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

• Current Masters or PhD student in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields.
• Comfortable with linear algebra and statistics.
• Experienced in applying machine learning techniques to real-world problems with frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or Tensorflow.
• Interested in learning about the biology of olfaction, molecular chemistry, and analytical chemistry.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

• Experience working with graph neural networks and their application in cheminformatics problems.
• Experience working with mass spectrometry data (GCMS) using machine learning methods.
• Experience working with protein structure modeling / protein language models.
• Experience working with metabolic pathway databases.
• Experience working with Bayesian optimization for experimental design.
• Experience working with human sensory data.

Salary Range: $50 - $60 per hour
