Motion Designer

The Role

Shutterstock is looking for an experienced Motion Designer to join the Brand Studio and Marketing team. In this role you will be instrumental in creating video content that represents Shutterstock’s brand and effectively communicates our products and offerings to our audiences. You’ll own video projects from their inception to completion, from designing storyboards to final delivery.

You’ll work with a talented team of copywriters, designers, curators and strategists to create captivating videos and animations. This position will support the execution of our marketing plan. You will report to the Associate Creative Director, Media.

The Day-to-Day

• You’ll meet with stakeholders to understand their video needs. You’ll collaborate with creative leads, copywriters and curators on the team to align on the creative vision for a project.
• You’ll find engaging ways to translate that vision into captivating storyboards.
• You’ll apply your motion design skills and techniques to turn those storyboards into eye-catching videos, leveraging storytelling, engaging our audiences, and communicating key messages effectively.
• You’ll address feedback throughout the production process.
• You’ll help define the look and feel of our core brand and its extensions and sister brands. And you’ll ensure consistency of our brand voice across projects and channels.
  
  

What you’ll do

• In this role you will become familiar with Shutterstock’s brand, products, and offerings
• You will own production of your projects from start to finish, including designing style frames and storyboards
• Position our brand and our portfolio of products and features across our site, our owned channels and paid media
• Collaborate closely with designers, strategists, and your peers on the Marketing team to find creative and innovative ways to engage audiences with video content You’ll ensure our design and motion language stays consistent across channels

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of experience as a motion designer
• Mastery of After Effects
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Excellent knowledge of 2D design and animation principles, typography and composition
• Great understanding of video editing concepts
• Feel for tone and rhythm
• Experience in animating UI elements
• You have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and know when to ask follow up questions to get to the root of the challenge
• Familiarity with working cross-functionally—you know how to work with creatives and non-creatives
• Ability to articulate your ideas by creating storyboards
• Interested in current motion design trends and animation techniques
• A keen eye and understanding of marketing and advertising
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate ideas, give and receive feedback, and work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities
• You are passionate about understanding our customers and apply those learnings into your strategy and approach
• A collaborative spirit with an outlook for problem solving.
• You’re humble and objective. Able to provide, receive, and incorporate actionable feedback
  
  

Nice to haves

• You have in-house AND agency experience
• Experience with Cinema 4D or other 3D animation software is a plus but not necessary
