Job Summary

The Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team at eBay is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer (MTS 2) to contribute to the design and development of eBay’s Core Data Platform. This role involves building scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient systems for end-to-end data lifecycle management, from onsite to analytics use cases. The engineer will work across the stack, from front-end interfaces (HTML/CSS, React) to backend APIs (Java, TypeScript), using modern frameworks and containerized infrastructure to power internal data platforms and strengthen eBay's data foundation.

Must Have

  • Contribute to the design and development of eBay’s Core Data Platform.
  • Build scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient systems for data management.
  • Design and deliver high-performance, cloud-native applications.
  • Contribute across the stack, from front-end interfaces to backend APIs.
  • Contribute to long-term architecture through design reviews and documentation.
  • Build systems balancing latency, correctness, cost, security, and compliance.
  • Drive operational excellence, including observability and incident response.
  • Collaborate across product, infrastructure, and analytics teams.
  • 8+ years of distributed systems or data platform experience.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver critical systems with impact.
  • Proficiency in Java/Python, CI/CD, and containerized environments.
  • Hands-on expertise in Kafka/Flink, Spark, Delta/Iceberg, Kubernetes, NoSQL/columnar stores.
  • Experience in streaming and batch data platforms.
  • Strong foundation in algorithms and distributed design.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

About the Role

We are seeking MTS 2 Software Engineers - Full Stack to contribute to the design and development of eBay’s Core Data Platform. In this role, you will help build scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient systems that enable users to develop pipelines, manage data, and unlock insights across the company. Your work will play a key part in strengthening the foundation of eBay's data platform infrastructure.

As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you’ll design and deliver high-performance, cloud-native applications that power eBay’s internal data platforms. You’ll contribute across the stack — from front-end interfaces to backend APIs — using modern frameworks and containerized infrastructure. This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about building elegant, scalable, and secure software that drives measurable business impact.

What you’ll do and learn

  • Full-stack development skills including data manipulation
  • Frontend - HTML/CSS, React
  • Backend - Java, TypeScript
  • Experience on designing large-scale distributed systems (compute, storage, APIs).
  • Ability to independently deliver complex projects from requirements to production.
