KTNV, The E.W. Scripps' ABC affiliate, is seeking a dynamic Multimedia Journalist in Las Vegas, NV. This role involves researching, writing, shooting, and editing compelling stories for broadcast and digital platforms. You will develop original story ideas, verify facts, and deliver live reports, bringing important news and engaging stories to life for the community. The position requires collaboration with producers and online staff to create multimedia content, serving as the eyes and ears for Las Vegas locals.
Must have:
  • Develop original story ideas from news leads, tips and community events
  • Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation and research
  • Write engaging stories following editorial style and format standards
  • Shoot video and still photos to illustrate your stories
  • Edit videos for broadcast and digital platforms
  • Appear on television for taped interviews and narration
  • Deliver live reports from event locations or mobile broadcast units
  • Work cooperatively with photographers when assigned
  • Assist news producers in preparing newscasts
  • Collaborate with online staff to create multimedia content
Good to have:
  • BS/BA in Journalism, Communications or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in broadcast journalism

If you're a storyteller at heart with a passion for capturing the pulse of the community, then we are looking for you. We're seeking a dynamic Multimedia Journalist to join our news team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to research, write, shoot, and edit compelling stories that matter to the communities we serve. You'll be the eyes and ears of locals, bringing important news and engaging stories to life across multiple platforms.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Develop original story ideas from news leads, tips and community events
  • Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation and research
  • Write engaging stories following editorial style and format standards
  • Shoot video and still photos to illustrate your stories

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in Journalism, Communications or related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience
  • 3+ years of experience in broadcast journalism preferred
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
  • Proficiency with newsroom computer systems
  • Experience with videography and non-linear editing
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
  • Ability to edit on Final Cut Pro or similar systems
  • Skills in posting content to various websites
  • Self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
