Job Description

The Network Operations Engineer II supports CME’s network infrastructure through monitoring, troubleshooting, and change implementation, adhering to industry standards and best practices. This role ensures continuous service operation for end-users and customers, maintaining agreed service levels, policies, processes, and standards. The engineer is crucial for platform stability and sustained delivery to clients and internal stakeholders, acting as a first responder for incidents and managing day-to-day operations to meet internal SLAs and KPIs.
Good To Have:
  • Troubleshooting network faults with assistance of packet capture tools (Wireshark, TCPDump, Niksun, Netflow).
  • Understanding/Support knowledge of Multicast Technologies (PIM-SM, MSDP, AnyCastRP).
  • Actively Supported Firewalls Products in an enterprise network (Palo Alto, Fortinet).
  • Actively Supported Load balancers in an enterprise network (F5, Citrix).
  • Actively supported Aruba products (Wireless, Clearpass).
  • Supporting hybrid on-prem/cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Keen to expand and advance knowledge in multiple network infrastructure technologies.
Must Have:
  • Act as first responder, organize and control incident response.
  • Monitor and manage platforms to meet SLAs, KPIs, and quality standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve network and service issues.
  • Analyze system and network performance using monitoring data.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors to resolve incidents and requests.
  • Assess, prioritize faults, and respond or escalate as needed.
  • Perform 1st line systems monitoring, network/firewall troubleshooting.
  • Log/chase faults with 3rd party suppliers and vendors.
  • Perform collaborative 3-tier network support, notifications, escalations.
  • Proactively work on network compliance and conformance tasks.
  • Maintain positive attitude and high level of customer service.
  • Contribute to operational systems and processes development.
  • Minimum 36 months experience in enterprise NOC role.
  • Experience with industry standard monitoring tools (Solarwinds, TSIM, NetBrain, Splunk).
  • Experience with Incident & Change ticketing systems (Remedy, ServiceNow, Atlassian Confluence, Jira).
  • Support experience with LAN & WAN technologies (OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, Layer 2 protocols).
  • Knowledge of firewalls and load balancing (Security Posture, ACLs, F5 LB, iRules, VPN, IPSec, SSL).
  • Understanding of Wireless technologies.
  • Experience with ISO and ITIL standards.
  • Experience supporting or working with Cloud Technologies.
  • Capable of multitasking with good time management.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

The Network Operations Engineer II, will be responsible for supporting CME’s network infrastructure; through monitoring, troubleshooting and change implementation using Industry Standard, Best Practices. The Network Operations Engineer II will ensure the ongoing operation of service to end users & customers by ensuring that service is operated within agreed service levels, and in alignment to agreed policies, processes, and standards. The role will be key to ensuring the overall platform stability and its sustained delivery to clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as first responders, helping to organize and control incident response.
  • Day to day monitoring and management of our platforms to ensure that internal SLAs, operational KPIs and quality standards are met
  • Experience of diagnosing network and service issues, following them through to resolution.
  • Experience of analyzing system and network performance using monitoring and graphical data.
  • Work closely with other IT teams, vendors, and service providers to resolve incidents and service requests
  • Ability to assess and prioritize faults and respond or escalate accordingly
  • Day-to-day Technical Operations activities (including, but not limited to: 1st line systems monitoring; network and firewall troubleshooting; logging/chasing faults with 3rd party suppliers & Vendors; preform collaborative 3 tier network support, notification and escalations where required)
  • Proactively work on our network compliance and conformance tasks
  • Maintain a positive attitude and a high level of customer service at all times
  • Contribute to the overall development of the operational systems and processes

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • 36 months minimum experience in a fast paced, enterprise NOC role
  • Experience maintaining a network using industry standard monitoring and support tools (Solarwinds, TSIM, NetBrain, Splunk, etc.)
  • Experience with Incident & Change ticketing systems and Wiki systems (Remedy, ServiceNow, Atlassian Confluence and Jira, etc.)
  • Support experience of LAN & WAN technologies:
  • Routing & Switching: OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, Layer 2 protocols
  • Knowledge of firewalls and load balancing with an understanding of:
  • Security Posture: Firewalling, ACLs, industry best practice, Internet architectures
  • Load Balancing: F5 LB, iRules, persistence, etc.
  • VPN: IPSec and SSL
  • Understanding of Wireless technologies:
  • Understanding/experience with ISO and ITIL standards
  • Experience Supporting or Working with Cloud Technologies
  • Capable of multitasking with good time management and prioritization of workload.
  • Clear communicator (both written and verbal) to facilitate efficient end user support and 3rd party/vendor escalations and management.
  • Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.

Desirable:

Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 12:00PM - 8:30 PM Central

Workplace: Hybrid, 2 Days/week required in the office
