News Editor

TRT World is seeking an experienced News Editor for its Washington, D.C. News Department. The role involves writing scripts for on-air talent, cutting pictures, finding guests, and commissioning graphics. The editor will produce original news content adhering to TRT World's editorial guidelines, working across television and online platforms. Responsibilities also include coordinating field assignments and collaborating with various newsroom teams to ensure comprehensive newsgathering and delivery.

Must Have

Job Description

• Write scripts for on-air talent, cutting pictures using a newsroom production system, finding guests, commissioning and writing graphics and other task as required.
• Produce original and market-leading news output while ensuring TRT World's editorial guidelines and values are adhered to.
• Produce news for TRT World's television news channel and embrace the full range of content delivery platforms including online and aim to develop cross-platform working practices and ideas wherever possible.
• Work with producers within the team and across the newsroom, as well as with the news desk and online to cultivate a collaborative approach to newsgathering and delivery across the channel.
• Coordinate and plan field assignments and news coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in media sector.
• Experience in a national or international broadcast TV news channel, requiring knowledge of newsroom production systems and desktop editing.
• Appreciation of the benefits and difficulties of cross-platform working.
• Strong editorial judgement skills with excellent journalism.
• Previous experience in a national or international broadcast news channel, Evidence of a broad range of journalistic interests including social affairs, international politics, public policy, world business and economic affairs, Sciences and the Arts.
