As the Operations Manager - TLMD Direct, you will be responsible for owning and leading the operational planning, execution, and results for assigned delivery markets. This includes developing and coordinating strategic market clearing tactics to achieve operational KPIs and program OKRs through a gig-based workforce. You will assess market performance, validate operational process compliance, and implement countermeasures for business opportunities. The role also involves driving program continuous improvement by identifying efficiency opportunities, building business cases for resource allocation, and fostering relationships with internal and external partners to prioritize the strategic roadmap. You will champion Last Mile Delivery operational results and fiscal performance, support the development of the gig-worker supply model, and build partnerships to balance Shipt's gig-worker supply needs with TLMD Direct implementation. Responsibilities include maintaining cross-functional and retail partner relationships, providing operational performance results, escalating operational incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and performing in-market visits.

Impact

As the Operations Manager - TLMD Direct located in Minneapolis, MN or remotely you will own and lead the operational planning & partnership, execution and results of the delivery markets assigned. You will develop and coordinate strategic market clearing tactics to meet operational KPIs and program OKRs through the use of a high-performing and engaged gig-based workforce. Through business reviews you will assess market performance, validate operational process compliance, and support creating and implementing necessary countermeasures against business opportunities. Additionally, you will propel the continuous improvement of the program by identifying efficiency opportunities, curating business cases to allocate resources, and build robust relationships with internal and external partners to drive prioritization of the strategic roadmap.

While no two days are the same, you will champion Last Mile Delivery operational results and fiscal performance. Support the development of the gig-worker supply model needed to support this delivery node type. Build and foster the partnerships and routines required to balance the broader Shipt gig-worker supply requirements with the implementation of TLMD Direct. You will build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams and retail partners. Responsible for providing operational performance results while bridging operational gaps to internal and external partners as required. Respond to operational, safety, and/or tech incidents requiring internal escalations and external communications to mitigate impact. Effectively utilize data and reporting on operational KPIs to proactively identify risks and conduct root cause analysis to problem solve. Lastly, periodically conduct in-market visits to support retail partners and gig-workers during process enhancements, product launches, or other business needs observed.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • You have 6+ years of operations and/or planning experience, preferably in the gig economy space.
  • You have strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to find and utilize relevant data to  improve business processes and workflows.
  • You have experience with handling ambiguity in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent tasks  and changing priorities.
  • You are able to work a schedule that aligns to the business needs - this could include: early morning,  evening, overnights and weekends, as necessary.
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You have a Business or operations management-related undergraduate degree or equivalent  experience.
  • Work Arrangement

    Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader.  Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis.     Pay Range:

    Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York City: 

    $88,000-$176,000

    All other locations:

    $73,000-$147,000

    Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
