Crozier Fine Arts, part of Iron Mountain, is seeking a Part Time Art Handling Specialist. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and integrity of artworks during packing, crating, and transportation to and from museums, galleries, and private venues worldwide. Specialists provide leadership and guidance on projects, acting as a liaison between clients and management, and are responsible for handling, moving, wrapping, packing, and crating art objects, as well as installing/uninstalling art for onsite projects.
Must have:
  • Handle, move, wrap, pack, and crate art objects, decorative arts, and/or furniture
  • Install/uninstall art for onsite projects
  • Load/unload trucks to ensure safe transit
  • Plan, organize, and pack trucks to ensure utmost safety of objects during transit
  • Conduct inspection reports
  • Act as onsite liaison between clients and company management
  • Determine strategy for projects, particularly when senior staff are not on site

We aim to be the primary service provider for the people and entities responsible for the care, movement, and long-term preservation of art and culture.

To that end, our Part Time Art Handling Specialists are responsible for ensuring safety and integrity in packing, crating, and transporting artworks to and from museums across the world, regional art galleries, and private venues. In addition to physical requirements, this role also provides leadership and guidance during projects while acting as a liaison between clients and company managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Using Crozier’s appropriate techniques and materials:

  • Handle, move, wrap, pack, and crate art objects, decorative arts, and/or furniture
  • Install/uninstall art for onsite projects
  • Load/unload trucks to ensure safe transit
  • Plan, organize, and pack trucks to ensure utmost safety of objects during transit
  • Conduct inspection reports
  • Act as onsite liaison between clients and company management
  • Determine strategy for projects, particularly when senior staff are not on site
  • Spend 5% of time on laptop / desktop computer, telephone

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 6 months Prior Art handling Experience In Gallery, Museum, or Commercial Fine Art Space
  • Industry standard knowledge of techniques and materials for packing, crating, installing and uninstalling
  • Skills - effective communication; attentive to detail; discretion; follow-through; self-motivated; and team player
  • Valid driver’s license and able to travel to regional locations for onsite work
  • Willing to work flexible hours based on project needs
  • Lift, move, push and pull heavy objects (in excess of 75 lbs), bend, kneel, crouch, stand

DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to safely operate 26-ft box truck, at minimum
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean/Clear driving record with ability to pass all driving check
  • CDL license not required but preferred
  • Travel: Local = 95% Overnight = 5%
