Job Summary
The Client Engineering Group (CEG) at Intel oversees all test chip design, foundational and hard IP, EDA and design platform functions, and external IP/EDA licensing. CEG is also establishing a new business for custom ASIC design services. This Principal Engineer role involves leading SoC design, including logic design, RTL coding, and simulation. The role requires integrating IP blocks, defining architecture, ensuring design quality, and optimizing for power, performance, area, and timing goals. The Principal Engineer will also work with IP providers and drive quality assurance for IP/SoC handoff.
Must Have
- Develops logic design, register transfer level (RTL) coding, and simulation for an SoC design.
- Integrates logic of IP blocks and subsystems into a full chip SoC or discrete component design.
- Participates in the definition of architecture and microarchitecture features of the block being designed.
- Performs quality checks in various logic design aspects ranging from RTL to timing/power convergence.
- Applies various strategies, tools, and methods to write RTL and optimize logic to qualify the design.
- Reviews the verification plan and implementation to ensure design features are verified correctly.
- Resolves and implements corrective measures for failing RTL tests.
- Follows secure development practices to address the security threat model and security objects.
- Works with IP providers to integrate and validate IPs at the SoC level.
- Drives quality assurance compliance for smooth IPSoC handoff.
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in CPU, GPU, NOC architecture and emulation.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams for 5+ years.
Good to Have
- Exposure to AI compute architecture and learning algorithms.
- Familiarity with a variety of EDA verification and validation tools.
- Strong understanding of various types of industry standard SoC architecture and IP's.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

As part of this new charter, CEG will also create a new business focused on providing custom ASIC design services for external customers.
About the Role:
The Principal Engineer - SoC Design Lead develops the logic design, register transfer level (RTL) coding, and simulation for an SoC design and integrates logic of IP blocks and subsystems into a full chip SoC or discrete component design.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in the definition of architecture and microarchitecture features of the block being designed.
- Performs quality checks in various logic design aspects ranging from RTL to timing/power convergence.
- Applies various strategies, tools, and methods to write RTL and optimize logic to qualify the design to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals as well as design integrity for physical implementation.
- Reviews the verification plan and implementation to ensure design features are verified correctly and resolves and implements corrective measures for failing RTL tests to ensure correctness of features.
- Follows secure development practices to address the security threat model and security objects within the design.
- Works with IP providers to integrate and validate IPs at the SoC level.
- Drives quality assurance compliance for smooth IPSoC handoff.

Qualifications:

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $214,730.00-303,140.00 USD
The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Work Model for this Role
