Job Summary

Intel's Government Information Technology and Security (GITS) organization is seeking a skilled System Administrator to support critical government IT infrastructure and information security operations. This role involves installing, configuring, and hardening IT systems (Windows and Linux) according to STIGs, NIST 800-53, and RMF standards. The administrator will deploy and manage security tools like Nessus, Splunk, and ACAS, conduct vulnerability assessments, and ensure continuous Authorization to Operate (ATO). The position requires strong technical expertise in system hardening, new build processes, deployment, and compliance management within a government environment.

Must Have

  • Install, configure, and harden IT systems (Windows and Linux) in accordance with STIGs, NIST 800-53, and RMF security/compliance standards.
  • Deploy and manage security tools such as Nessus, Splunk, and ACAS.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation, validating results through STIG Viewer, SCAP scans.
  • Perform lifecycle and configuration management, including secure builds, deployments, and patching.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance and security, ensuring continuous Authorization to Operate (ATO).
  • Collaborate with Information Security teams; support audits and inspections.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including SOPs, process guides, and IT policies.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active US Government TS Security Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • 3+ years of experience in Government IT and Information Security Industry.
  • 3+ years of experience with NIST 800-53, NIST 800-137, and RMF.
  • 3+ years of experience with Windows or Linux Operating Systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with hardening devices, configuring logging, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with IT Lifecycle and configuration management.
  • Experience utilizing tools such as STIG Viewer, SCAP scanners.
  • Experience applying and maintaining information security controls.

Good to Have

  • Active US Government Security Clearance with a Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CASP, CISSP) within 6 months.
  • OS specific certification.
  • Experience with RMF as it relates to Systems Administration.
  • Experience using industry-standard security tools for audit reduction, vulnerability management, and malware detection, including: ACAS, Tenable Nessus, Splunk, SCAP, Compliance Checker, STIG Viewer, EPO, and Trellix.
  • Experience with cloud security principles and experience working with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure) in federal/DoD compliant environments.

Intel's Government Information Technology and Security (GITS) organization enables Intel to win United States Government business by providing secure products, solutions, and services which meet U.S. regulatory requirements. The GITS team is part of Intel's Information Security organization and supports the unique IT Information Security and Compliance requirements for Intel Federal LLC, a subsidiary that delivers products and/or services to the U.S. Government (USG). As part of the GITS team, you will help us grow our secure solution suite to meet U.S. Government requirements for data safeguarding.

The Government Information Technology and Security Team (GITS) is composed of highly experienced security professionals with expertise in Enterprise Security Architecture, System Engineering, Information Security, and service/product operations that fulfill and meet regulatory compliance oversight. Within the GITS Team, each member brings diverse expertise and wears multiple hats. We are seeking a skilled System Administrator to support critical government IT infrastructure and information security operations. This role requires an individual with strong technical expertise in system hardening, new build processes and deployment, and compliance management within a government environment.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and harden IT systems (Windows and Linux) in accordance with STIGs, NIST 800-53, and RMF security/compliance standards.
  • Deploy and manage security tools such as Nessus, Splunk, and ACAS to support vulnerability management, continuous monitoring, and compliance reporting.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation, validating results through STIG Viewer, SCAP scans, and other compliance tools.
  • Perform lifecycle and configuration management, including secure builds, deployments, and patching.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance and security, ensuring continuous Authorization to Operate (ATO).
  • Collaborate with Information Security teams to assess, analyze, and respond to findings; support audits and inspections as required.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including SOPs, process guides, and IT policies.

Qualifications:

The Minimum qualifications are required to be considered for this position. Minimum qualifications listed below would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experience and / or schoolwork/classes/research or military. The preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates

Minimum Qualifications

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active US Government TS Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI Security Clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in the Government Information Technology (IT) and Information Security Industry, -or- a High School Diploma with at least 5+ years of relevant experience in the Government Information Technology (IT) and Information Security Industry.
  • 3+ years of experience with NIST 800-53, NIST 800-137, and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • 3+ years of experience with Windows Operating Systems -or- Linux Operating Systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with hardening devices, configuring and managing logging capabilities and performing vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with IT Lifecycle and configuration management, including workstation and server builds, deployments, and patching.
  • Experience utilizing tools such as STIG Viewer, SCAP scanners, and manual validation techniques to ensure compliance.
  • Experience applying and maintaining information security controls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active US Government Security Clearance with a Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or III certification (i.e. Security+, CASP, CISSP), within 6 months of starting the position and an OS specific certification.
  • Experience with RMF as it relates to Systems Administration.
  • Experience using industry-standard security tools for audit reduction, vulnerability management, and malware detection, including: ACAS, Tenable Nessus, Splunk, SCAP, Compliance Checker, STIG Viewer, EPO, and Trellix.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $89,150.00-173,830.00 USD
