LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is a global financial markets infrastructure and data business, dedicated to excellence and supporting financial stability and growth worldwide. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer for LSEG’s Elektron Real Time Data Distribution System in the Real Time Core team. This role involves combining strong technical and collaboration skills in a dynamic environment, working within agile teams to build and maintain components for the market-leading Elektron system, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Must have:
  • Engage with product owner, team lead, architects, and global team to build world-class solutions.
  • Deliver reliable and robust solutions with a consistent focus on quality and security.
  • Manage own workload and promote an inclusive and open culture.
  • Actively participate in Scrum meetings, providing timely status updates.
  • Analyse and adapt through agile retrospectives and reviews.
  • Work well under pressure and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Be an excellent communicator and client-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ensure the Knowledge Base is kept up to date.
  • Minimum 8 years of strong C++ experience for cross-platform development, particularly RedHat Linux.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience using repositories for multi-person, multi-software versions pipelines of delivery.
  • Proficiency in AGILE Software Development techniques (TDD and/or BDD) and Atlassian toolsets.
  • Knowledge of building and using automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent verbal communication and written documentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to react to and keep up with quickly changing technical events and requirements.
  • Degree level qualification (Computing / Computer Science or related discipline).
Good to have:
  • High Transactional, Low Latency development experience.
  • Development of Scripting Languages including Python, JS and Node.
  • Cloud technologies, AWS/Azure Cloud Formation.
  • Knowledge of building automation.

Job Details

ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer for LSEG’s Elektron Real Time Data Distribution System in the Real Time Core team. The successful candidate will combine strong technical and collaboration skills in a demanding and dynamic environment. You will work directly with your team and with groups across the organisation to ensure the best service for our client base.

You will be a member of a multi-skilled team building and maintaining components for our market leading Elektron system. We strive for our engineers to work within agile teams that emphasize standard process and believe quality is everyone’s responsibility. They bring an enthusiastic attitude whilst making sure they share their knowledge while removing constraints.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Engaging with the product owner, team lead, architects and other members of the global team you'll help build world-class solutions to address our customer needs.
  • Demonstrating a consistent focus on quality and security, you'll deliver reliable, and robust solutions.
  • Manages own workload and promotes an inclusive and open culture.
  • Takes initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications and projects.
  • Actively participating in Scrum meetings, you'll give timely status updates to the Team Lead and/or Scum Master on areas for which you are responsible.
  • Through agile retrospectives and reviews, you'll analyse and adapt, finding innovative ways to enable your team work more effectively delivering on time to defined standards of quality.
  • You'll need to able to work well under pressure and be adept at taking problems and seeing them through to resolution with minimal supervision.
  • You'll be an excellent communicator and very client focused with strong interpersonal skills.
  • You'll ensure that the Knowledge Base is kept up to date with the team's knowledge and technical issues resolution.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strong C++ experience (minimum 8 years) for cross-platform development, particularly RedHat Linux.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience in using repositories for multi-person, multi-software versions pipelines of delivery.
