WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Generate ideas and research topics for episodes
- Develop new shows from idea to execution, working on every aspect of the process
- Pre-interview guests and occasionally conducts interviews for podcasts
- Make determination as to which guest go on air, schedule their slot, and manage music selection for programs
- Coordinate production, including gathering any additional production elements, including ad copy
- Structure and write scripts for hosts
- Record, edit, and mix episodes
- Write copy for website and social media
- Serve as the point person with third-party podcast platforms, including SoundCloud and iTunes
- Coordinate video, text, and other multimedia elements
- Ensure that podcasts meet the highest production and editorial standards
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
- Generally, 3 - 5+ years of experience in podcasting preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Experience producing narrative media, including interviews and longer, more produced storytelling
- Audio production skills, with emphasis on editing and producing multi-element stories
- Experience producing on ProTools or similar digital audio workstations
- Ability to conceptualize a story from beginning to end and enhance it with multimedia elements
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure
- Strong research and writing skills
- Great communication skills and strong experience in finding and booking guests for interviews
- Ability to take initiative and receive constructive feedback
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to work well with a diverse group of individuals
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, and FTP
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technology
- Demonstrated ability to generate and execute complex creative ideas, to assimilate and organize large amounts of information
- Demonstrated understanding of online communities and social networking
- Must have good creative and editorial judgment; demonstrate understanding of journalistic ethics and libel laws, and work productively with news personnel
- Broadcast production experience preferred
- Digital video production experience preferred
