Job Summary
This Product Specialist role in the QLD Advanced Surgery team focuses on managing the Northern Queensland territory. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth and profitability by executing sales strategies, developing new business, and maintaining existing accounts. This position requires a proactive approach to account management and customer service.
Must Have
- Achieve communicated sales budgets by penetrating profitable sales of Advanced Surgery products
- Build relationships and networks with clinical and management staff in accounts
- Accurately represent the features and benefits of the specific product specialist portfolio
- Maintain profitability within the area of responsibility
- Provide market information and relevant data to maintain a sound understanding of the marketplace
- Identify incremental business opportunities and develop strategies to gain sales
- Facilitate product presentations to induce product usage in key specialties
- Identify customer needs and personnel responsible to provide in-service and effective use of products
- Ensure up-to-date knowledge of products for effective and accurate communication
- Maintain documentation and contacts within accounts to enhance business relationships
- Collaborate with Sales Management, Marketing and Product Managers on account management plans
- Maintain a complete and detailed understanding of policies and procedures
- Coordinate with the Customer Service Team to ensure account ordering needs are met
- Provide feedback to the Sales Lead on trends in accounts through monthly reports
- Supply new business forecasts to management
- Tertiary degree in Medical Science, Healthcare, Business, Management or related fields
- Highly developed interpersonal effectiveness and relationship-building abilities
- Accountable for achieving targets and delivering outstanding customer service
- Collaborative approach and ability to work well with others
- Willingness to travel interstate as required
Good to Have
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a commercial/sales role within the Medical Devices or Pharmaceutical industry
- Knowledge and application of effective selling skills, including value added selling techniques and Key Account Management
- Working knowledge of the Hospital and Healthcare system

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Specialist to join the QLD Advanced Surgery team managing the Northern Queensland territory. Reporting to the Field Sales Lead, you will work as an integral member of the team driving revenue growth and profitability across all assigned accounts new and existing across Northern Queensland. In this role you will use your effective territory management skills to execute sales strategies through development of new business and maintaining existing business while maximising market presence of our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve communicated sales budgets by penetrating profitable sales of Advanced Surgery products into key targeted accounts within the appointed territory
- Build relationships and networks with clinical and management staff in accounts.
- Accurately represent the features and benefits of the specific product specialist portfolio to customers and potential customers
- Maintain profitability within the area of responsibility in consultation with sales and marketing personnel
- Provide market information and any other relevant data as required to maintain a sound understanding of the marketplace
- Identify incremental business opportunities and develop strategies to gain any sales flowing from such opportunities
- Facilitate product presentations to induce product usage in key specialties
- Identify customer needs and personnel responsible to provide in-service and effective use of products
- Ensure up-to-date knowledge of products to facilitate effective and accurate communication with customers
- Maintain documentation and contacts within accounts to enhance business relationships through effective account management
- Collaborate with Sales Management, Marketing and Product Managers, and Advanced Surgery Manager on the development and progress of account management plans and the achievement of gross profit and revenue growth, with regular reviews to monitor outcomes
- Maintain a complete and detailed understanding of policies and procedures and educate customers on policies (e.g., returns goods policy)
- Coordinate with the Customer Service Team to ensure that account ordering needs are met to the customer's delight
- Provide feedback to the Sales Lead on trends in accounts through the preparation and submission of a monthly report, including market (competitive) intelligence
- Supply new business forecasts to management to ensure materials management adequately meets customer’s needs.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary degree in Medical Science, Healthcare, Business, Management or related fields
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a commercial/sales role within the Medical Devices or Pharmaceutical industry is desirable
- Knowledge and application of effective selling skills, including value added selling techniques and Key Account Management is preferred
- Working knowledge or the Hospital and Healthcare system is highly desirable
- Highly developed interpersonal effectiveness and relationship-building abilities
- Accountable for achieving targets and delivering outstanding customer service
- Collaborative approach and ability to work well with others
- Willingness to travel interstate as required.
