Job Description

Universally Speaking is seeking passionate and detail-oriented QA Testers to join their dynamic team in Central Liverpool. This role involves ensuring games and applications deliver the best user experience by being bug-free, following established QA processes, and utilizing industry-standard bug databases for detailed reporting. Testers will own, manage, and execute test cases across a range of Indie to AAA projects, actively participating in test requirement gathering. The position is project-based, offering training and a supportive environment, though continuous paid work is not guaranteed due to client demands.
Good To Have:
  • Management and execution of automated tests.
  • Used version control software, issue task tracking or project management tools.
  • Been part of games development projects or jams and know about development engines.
  • Experience in using Jira.
Must Have:
  • Ensure games and applications are bug-free for optimal user experience.
  • Follow Universally Speaking QA process and professional standards.
  • Use industry-standard bug databases to write detailed bug reports.
  • Take ownership to ensure bugs are fixed and implemented correctly.
  • Become a QA Expert across Indie to AAA projects.
  • Own, manage, create, and regularly execute test cases.
  • Actively participate in test requirement gathering with developers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Passion for video games.
  • Quick learning and adaptability.
  • Focus on quality and keen eye for detail.
  • Inquisitive mind.

What would you do at work?

  • Your job is to make sure games and applications give the best user experience by being bug free.
  • To do this you will learn how to follow the Universally Speaking QA process and professional standards which we have optimised over the years to be the best in the industry.
  • You’ll use a variety of industry standard bug databases to write detailed bug reports that get you noticed as someone who is trusted and cares about making games better.
  • Reporting issues is where it starts but you’ll also have ownership to ensure that bugs have been fixed and implemented correctly.
  • You’ll become the QA Expert across a broad range of Indie to AAA projects and given areas of specialisation
  • You’ll own, manage, create, and regularly execute test cases throughout the project life cycle. This includes document testing practises, QA process & reporting method.
  • You’ll actively participate in test requirement gathering with developers to ensure QA effectively tests and supports all features of the project.
  • You’ll be one step ahead in looking at ways to make improvements, take ownership for additional activities and create efficiencies in the way you work.

Important

After paid training, candidates will be placed in a pool and called to come into the office as project work becomes available. Due to changing client demands and seasonal load continuous paid work is not guaranteed.

Owing to security requirements, all work must be performed on-site in Universally Speaking offices.
