QNX is a trusted supplier of safe and secure operating systems, hypervisors, frameworks, and development tools for critical embedded systems. We are seeking a talented and motivated individual with software development experience in audio and acoustics digital signal processing algorithms. Our team leads in enhancing in-car acoustics through technologies like acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, active noise cancellation, and engine sound enhancement. You will design, implement, and optimize algorithms, research new ones, maintain existing code, and conduct testing to improve audio quality.
Must have:
  • Conduct algorithm design, implementation, performance analysis, porting to fixed-point arithmetic, and optimization.
  • Research and develop new algorithms (using Matlab and/or C/C++), including filing patent applications.
  • Maintain and extend existing code using C/C++.
  • Test and automat test development.
  • Provide objective and subjective quality improvements.
  • Conduct subjective testing, listening and recording.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or equivalent experience.
  • Strong background in audio signal processing and/or acoustics.
  • Proven experience in software development using C / C++.
  • Experience working with microphones, loudspeakers, amplifiers, audio electronics.
  • Evidence of innovativeness.
  • Experience designing and developing complex algorithms that perform acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, speech detection, beam forming, active noise cancellation, speech or sound synthesis, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills.
  • High degree of motivation and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Matlab, MathCad, or other mathematical modeling packages.
  • Experience in fixed-point arithmetic and ability to efficiently convert/port algorithms from floating-point to fixed-point.
  • Experience programming Windows based GUIs.
  • Experience programming in a QNX Momentics development environment.
  • Experience programming in QNX or Linux/Android embedded environment.
  • Development of a commercially released embedded-systems product.
  • Experience with critical audio listening.
  • Experience with CVS, SVN, or other version control system.

Are you the person we are looking for?

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual with software development experience in audio and acoustics digital signal processing algorithms. Our team is a leader in providing software that enhances the acoustics environment in a car through such technologies as acoustic echo cancellation (AEC), noise reduction (NR), active noise cancellation (ANC), and engine sound enhancement (ESE). QNX is a market leader in embedded software for automotive audio systems, with products deployed in over 200 million vehicles worldwide. Our customers include many well-known automakers and Tier 1 suppliers. We develop, integrate, tune and license software libraries for full-duplex echo cancellation and noise reduction for hands-free calling, in-car communications, active noise control, engine sound synthesis, media playback optimization and chimes generation. With our latest product offering, QNX Sound, we are influencing the audio system architecture and features of the software-defined vehicles of the future.

You will:

You will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or equivalent experience.
  • Strong background in audio signal processing and/or acoustics
  • Proven experience in software development using C / C++, with embedded experience an asset.
  • Experience working with microphones, loudspeakers, amplifiers, audio electronics
  • Evidence of innovativeness—new algorithms, new approaches, thinking creatively
  • Experience designing and developing complex algorithms that perform acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, speech detection, beam forming, active noise cancellation, speech or sound synthesis, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills. Ability to separate core from secondary issues.
  • High degree of motivation and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

It would be great if you have:

  • Experience with Matlab, MathCad, or other mathematical modeling packages
  • Experience in fixed-point arithmetic and ability to efficiently convert/port algorithms from floating-point to fixed-point.
  • Experience programming Windows based GUIs.
