PHINIA is seeking an enthusiastic Quality Engineering Intern to join their Quality Team in Troy, Michigan. The intern will support the development and implementation of work instructions, quality standards, and process documents, assist in structured problem-solving, and follow up on corrective actions. Responsibilities also include supporting supplier activities, warranty analysis, and maintaining 5S in quality areas. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
Must Have:
  • Support development and implementation of Work Instructions, Quality Standards, General Arrangements, and other process related documents.
  • Support structured problem-solving efforts and follow up on corrective, preventive and improvement actions.
  • Support activities with suppliers, including running samples and managing return of suspect/defective material.
  • Perform warranty analysis: log in/manage returns, run tests, log results, and coordinate warranty for third-party products.
  • Support 5S in Quality Department areas and assist Quality Technician activities.
  • Actively pursuing BS/MS in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Minitab.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate and Power BI.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Ability to read Product Drawings.

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for an enthusiastic Quality Engineering Intern to join our PHINIA Quality Team in Troy, Michigan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support development and implementation of Work Instructions (JES), Quality Standards, General Arrangements, and other process related documents: support auditing, development, improvement, and management.
  • Support structured problem-solving efforts, as required.
  • Follow up on corrective, preventive and improvement actions, as required.
  • Support to follow activities with suppliers, run samples.
  • Support return of suspect/defective material to suppliers.
  • Warranty analysis: log in / manage returns, run tests, log results (in conjunction with Quality Technicians), and coordinate warranty for product produced by third party processors.
  • Support 5S in Quality Department areas, and other areas, as required.
  • Support Quality Technician activities, as required.
  • Special projects / tasks, as assigned.

What we’re looking for

  • Actively pursuing BS/MS in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Familiar with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Minitab
  • Familiar with Microsoft Power Automate and Power BI
  • Strong computer skills; MS Office

  • Eager and willing to learn and ability to adapt to new challenges
