Job Summary

As a quality manager, you are responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality of three essential product groups within our construction activities: recycled aggregates, hydraulically bound mixtures, and road concrete. You contribute to the sustainability, reliability, and conformity of our products, working from our sites in Burcht and Bilzen. This involves overseeing technical standards, conducting analyses, managing production processes, and maintaining quality documentation.

Must Have

  • Monitor quality of recycled aggregates (BENOR, VLAREMA compliance)
  • Perform analyses on aggregates (grain size, contaminants)
  • Develop technical mix formulas for hydraulically bound mixtures
  • Monitor production process and control parameters for HBM
  • Oversee quality of road concrete (composition, strength, finish)
  • Prepare and guide external audits and certification processes (COPRO)
  • Conduct systematic self-controls on production and delivery
  • Develop and maintain the quality manual
  • Bachelor or master in a technical field (civil engineering, chemistry, environmental technology, industrial sciences)
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in quality management in construction/material production
  • Analytical and precise mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively

Job Description

As a quality manager, you are responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality of three essential product groups within our construction activities: recycled aggregates, hydraulically bound mixtures, and road concrete. You contribute to the sustainability, reliability, and conformity of our products, and work from our sites in Burcht and Bilzen.

1. Recycled aggregates

  • You monitor the quality of aggregates resulting from the crushing of old concrete, asphalt, or other building materials.
  • You check whether these comply with technical standards (such as BENOR) and environmental legislation (such as VLAREMA).
  • You perform analyses on grain size distribution, contaminants, and origin.
  • You ensure correct documentation and traceability.

2. Hydraulically bound mixtures (HBM)

  • You draw up technical mix formulas for mixtures of aggregates with cement or other binders.
  • You monitor the production process and control parameters such as workability, hardening, and strength.
  • You ensure that the end product meets the requirements for foundation material in road construction.

3. Road concrete

  • You monitor the quality of concrete used for roads and industrial sites.
  • You check composition, hardening time, compressive strength, and surface finish.
  • You guide external audits and certification processes (e.g., COPRO).

4. Drawing up recipes in accordance with regulations

  • You draw up technical mix formulas, tailored to the project requirements and applicable standards.
  • You take into account parameters such as grain size distribution, binder types, moisture content, and workability.
  • You collaborate with production and the laboratory to test, refine, and validate recipes.

5. Self-control of production, the production process, and product delivery

  • You carry out systematic controls on the quality of the produced materials.
  • You check whether production proceeds according to established procedures and whether the end products comply with technical specifications.
  • You also monitor the quality of delivery: correct packaging, transport conditions, and traceability. Attending and guiding external controls by certification bodies
  • You prepare for audits and inspections by certification bodies such as COPRO.
  • You are present during these controls and act as a point of contact for the auditors.
  • You ensure follow-up of any comments or action points and implement improvement measures.

6. Drawing up and managing the quality manual

  • You develop and maintain the quality manual in which all procedures, standards, controls, and responsibilities are laid down.
  • You ensure that the manual is always up-to-date and in accordance with the latest legislation and standards.
  • You communicate changes to the relevant departments and ensure correct implementation.

Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor or master in a technical field (civil engineering, chemistry, environmental technology, industrial sciences).

Experience:

  • At least 3 years relevant experience in quality management within the construction sector or material production.
  • Experience with standards such as BENOR, CE marking, COPRO, and VLAREMA is a plus.

Skills:

  • Analytical and precise mindset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate smoothly with production, logistics, and external partners.
