The R&D Verification Engineer II will join the Design Business Unit (DBU) to conduct software testing of Ansys applications like Discovery. This role assesses how well the product meets customer needs in functionality and usability, ensuring product requirements and quality standards are met. The engineer will work closely with the product creation team and communicate with technical specialists on product issues. The role requires critical thinking and investigative skills. Responsibilities include specifying and writing test cases, creating and maintaining test scripts, performing functional, application, regression, and performance testing in manual and automated environments, participating in defect management and testing metrics, and working in various computing environments.
Must have:
  • Specify and write test cases, create, modify and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts
  • Apply understanding of FEA to perform functional, application, regression and performance testing
  • Create test plans, participate in defect management and testing metrics
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of experience or MS with no experience
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, C++ or Visual Studio
Good to have:
  • Technical knowledge and experience with Ansys products
  • Experience with CAE tools in industrial or academic projects
  • Experience in a large-scale commercial software testing and verification environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
  • A thorough and careful approach to work with close attention to detail and quality
  • Strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills

Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Verification Engineer II joins the Design Business Unit (DBU) to conduct software testing of Ansys applications such as Discovery. This role assesses how well the product meets customer needs both in terms of functionality and usability and ensures that product requirements and quality standards are satisfied. The role works closely with other members of the product creation team and communicates with technical specialists on product issues. 

Role requires an individual with an interest in exploring, investigating and critical thinking.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Specify and write test cases, create, modify and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts  
  • Apply understanding of FEA to perform functional, application, regression and performance testing in manual and/or automated test environments and investigate possible causes of problems
  • Create test plans, participate in defect management and testing metrics
  • Apply standard techniques and procedures and comply with the company's overall development, testing and quality processes
  • Work in a variety of computing environments: Windows, VM’s, Cloud
  • Work closely with other members of the product creation team to analyze requirements, execute interactive testing and develop automated tests suitable for new features
  • Help to assess how well the product will meet customer needs both in terms of functionality and usability
  • Participate in design and code reviews

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (preferably with a strong understanding of FEA), or related field with 2 years of experience, or MS with no experience
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, C++ or Visual Studio

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical knowledge and experience with Ansys products
  • Experience with CAE tools in industrial or academic projects, and familiarity with the associated engineering principles
  • Experience in a large-scale commercial software testing and verification environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team

  • Strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills
