Springer Nature collaborates with over 1 million peer reviewers to uphold the integrity and trustworthiness of academic publishing. The Reviewer Communications Strategy Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategic communications that deepen reviewer engagement and reinforce Springer Nature’s position as a trusted partner in research. This role is responsible for developing and implementing integrated communication strategies that align with organizational goals, elevate the reviewer experience, and foster long-term relationships with the global research community. The role-holder will lead strategic planning, audience segmentation, message development, and performance analysis across multiple channels and touchpoints. A key focus of the role is to ensure that reviewer communications—including training, onboarding, and recognition—are cohesive, inclusive, and strategically aligned with broader engagement and brand objectives.
Must have:
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive communications strategy for reviewer engagement, aligned with Springer Nature’s mission and business priorities.
  • Design and implement multi-channel campaigns that drive awareness, participation, and satisfaction among peer reviewers.
  • Craft strategic messaging frameworks that ensure consistency, clarity, and resonance across all reviewer-facing communications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Reviewer Engagement, Editorial, Marketing, Publishing, and Product to ensure communications are integrated and impactful.
  • Strategically support reviewer training and onboarding, aligning content and delivery with engagement goals and audience needs.
  • Develop targeted outreach strategies for key segments such as early career researchers and underrepresented groups in peer review.
  • Establish and manage editorial calendars, content pipelines, and campaign timelines to ensure timely and coordinated delivery.
  • Monitor and analyze communication performance, using metrics such as NPS, CSAT, open rates, and engagement trends to optimize strategy and execution.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor for internal teams on reviewer communications, providing guidance on tone, messaging, and delivery best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience developing and executing strategic communication plans in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across digital and print formats.
  • Strong understanding of audience segmentation, message tailoring, and campaign lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, ideally in academic, publishing, or training contexts.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into compelling communication initiatives.
  • Proficiency in CMS, email marketing platforms, and internal communication tools.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in strategic communications are a plus.

US Annualized Base Salary Range: $70,000 - 82,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
