Job Summary
At Motorola Solutions, we help keep people safer everywhere. As part of the U.S. Federal Government Markets Division, we provide critical communications, video security, and command center technologies. A Sales Systems Engineer Intern partners with customers and the sales team to deliver world-class, end-to-end solutions. This role involves technical design ownership, ensuring customer needs are met through innovative communication solutions, including public safety networks, mobile devices, and software applications for mission-critical intelligence.
Must Have
- Customer requirements discovery

- Internal and external technical presentations
- Equipment and software solution demos, including configuration and testing
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with an anticipated graduation date during or after December 2026
- Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a necessary security clearance as required by government contract
- Must be able to be in the Linthicum Heights, MD office 3 days per week (Tue, Wed, Thu)
Good to Have
- General knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 4G/5G)

As the solutions architects, systems engineers have the technology and design responsibility for all sales support engagements nationwide.
Job Description
A Sales Systems Engineer Intern partners closely with customers and the sales team, delivering customer-driven, world-class, leading-edge, end-to-end solutions that rise to the communications and situational awareness challenges that our customers face. Working within a team of sales, service, engineering, and technical support resources, the Sales Systems Engineer Intern is the overall owner of the solutions' technical design, ensuring we meet our customers’ needs. As an engineering intern, you will work within the engineering team to deliver customer-driven, world-class, leading-edge, end-to-end solutions that rise to the challenges that our customers face.
The team concentrates on the following mission-critical communications technologies at various levels of complexity:
- Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks
- Advanced mobile devices
- Public safety mobile broadband networks and devices
- Software applications for mission critical intelligence
- Integrated command and control: Next Generation 9-1-1 Dispatch Consoles, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
- Intelligence-Led Public Safety: Real time video and data analytics
Typical scope of responsibilities may include the following:
- Customer requirements discovery
- Technology strategy development
- End-to-end system architecture design
- Proposal development
- Internal and external technical presentations
- Equipment and software solution demos, including configuration and testing
The ideal candidate has the following skills and capabilities:
- General knowledge of IT network and computer architecture
- General knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 4G/5G) - is highly desirable
- A positive attitude with a can-do mentality that enables you to be creative, resourceful and deliver results
- Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status quo
- Attention to detail
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with an anticipated graduation date during or after December 2026
- Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a necessary security clearance as required by government contract
- Must be able to be in the Linthicum Heights, MD office 3 days per week (Tue, Wed, Thu)
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
Target Hourly Base Pay Range: $20.00-$30.00 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
